Freddy strikes in A Nightmare on Elm Street

Word around campus is that the uncomfortably attractive Aaron Taylor-Johnson is the front runner to battle the big lizard in the upcoming "Godzilla" reboot. No decision will be made until the final script is complete but if come on. Have you seen him? Mother of god he's got the yes of a angel. I've said too much haven't I.

Ellen Page, the annoying gal from "Juno", has signed on to play the lead in the big screen adaptation of "Into the Forest". Based on Jean Hegland's novel the film focuses on two sisters trying to survive as the world is falling apart. Come on you remember her. "Oh my blog". I know, makes you want to punch a baby seal doesn't it.

Wanna know something? There's a "A Nightmare on Elm Street" Blu-Ray collection coming out. It's going to be the first time that 4 through 7 have been available on Blu-Ray. They're going to be chock full of all kinds of interviews and extras. In related news I will not be purchasing any of them.

For no other reason than to be a prick and keep people talking about it "Zombieland" director Ruben Fleischer has not ruled out the possibility of a sequel. Sure he says there's no script for it, there's no cast for it and no there aren't even plans for it. Hell it doesn't even sound like he wants to do it. But ya know never say never or some other bullshit. Prick.

I don't care what anyone says, I'm excited about
"The Darkest Hour". Mostly because I'm a travel buff and the story focuses on a group of teens trapped in Moscow during a strange alien attack. And today we've got a cool new motion poster for the flick. I have no clue where these things show up but I want to see it in person. I also want to visit Dorney Park for their Halloween Nights. That's the ad I got before the video of the poster. It looks more fun than the movie to be honest.

Looks like the good people at Sony Pictures plan on releasing the original "Ghostbusters" back into theaters sometime in late October, most likely around Halloween. With the third installment of the franchise taking its sweet ass time to get going this is probably the only slimer action you're going to get for a long time. Unless that start running those old cartoons they made from the films. That's probably not going to happen though.

From the trailers and stills I've seen I'm still completely lost on what the new FX series "American Horror Story" is about but according to their site it focuses on a family that moves into a creepy house after the father does some diddling on the side. Well now we've learned that Sarah Paulson, who you probably know from "What Women Want" has joined the cast for 4 episodes. She'll be playing a medium that plays a big role in some sort of story arc. You're welcome for all this useful information.

I can't believe this hasn't been made before but here's the first image for "Wet Dream on Elm Street". If you couldn't guess the film is a porn parody of "A Nightmare On Elm Street" and today we've got our first look at Freddy Fingers, who instead of knives has dildos on his glove. There's something I never thought I'd write. It's a good day.

I don't know when the hell this was decided but apparently "Quarantine 2: Terminal" will hit theaters on June 17th. Of course it will be limited, which means probably a total of 8 theaters will be showing it. Half of those will be in a bunch of crappy theaters in the middle of the Village and the other half in equally crappy theaters in LA, all of which will be filled with pricks. Save me a seat!

For those of you who have been waiting for the "Nightmare on Elm Street" sequels to hit Blu-Ray I've got good news and bad news. The good news is both 2 & 3 in the series are being released on September 27th. The bad news is they're going to be released on one disc so I'm guessing special features are going to be pretty slim. And the news that I had a lovely weekend is probably not good or bad to you. Jerk.

David Arquette is a director now! Well alright I guess he's directed some TV and crap but "Glutton" is the first movie I've actually noticed his name attached to and what's more is his sister Patricia Arquette has now been cast as the sister of a morbidly obese bedridden man which the movie focuses on. Am I the only one who's slightly turned on by this movie premise? Yes? I should have figured.

Some good Blu-Ray news for you though is that Steven Spielberg himself has confirmed that "Jaws" will in fact be released on the magical disc in the near future. He's also confirmed that there will be no digital enhancements of any kind done to the film and it will be left in its true original glory. Which makes me wonder why I need a 37th version of the movie but I'm sure I can find a reason. I'm really good at talking myself into things.

These new production stills from "A Nightmare on Elm Street" would lead us to believe that the movie could be good and gory. We'll have to wait until April 30th to see if this promise rings true.

In a recent interview, Lloyd Kaufman lets slip that there are a number of Troma movies in talks for possible remakes including "Poultrygeist" and "Class of Nuke 'Em High". One would normally take news like this from Lloyd with a grain of salt, but the "Mother's Day" remake has already wrapped and "The Toxic Avenger" is in talks, so stranger things have happened!

Not to let Sam Worthington steal all the godly thunder, Stephen Dorff has signed on to "War of the Gods", another Greek monster fighting montage.

Though we have yet to lay eyes on any of her genre rolls yet, young actress Chloe Moretz has signed on for the serial killer opus "The Fields". With her upcoming turns as our fanged lead in the upcoming remake "Let Me In" and her ass kicking antics in "Kick-Ass", she sure seems to enjoy the genre work.

John Landis has hit the director chair again, this time directing Andy Serkis and Simon Pegg in a new horror comedy entitled "Burke & Hare". With talent like that involved, how can you not be curious?

Remember Melissa Joan Hart? She's coming to the big screen for a taste of genre stardom, though not in the form of a cutesy witch. Instead, she'll be starring in the gruesome thriller "Nine Dead" alongside John Terry and John C. Victor.

There are rumblings about that anime fans favorite dhampir 'D' may be returning soon. Director Hideyuki Kikuchi has announced plans to bring "Vampire Hunter D" back once in again in both series form as well as a live action movie.

In what is sure to be only the tip of the marketing iceberg, some snapshots of "A Nightmare on Elm Street" have arrived online as well as a new one sheet giving us another look at the new Freddy.
