Horror Headlines: Tuesday January 18th, 2011

This isn't a trailer for the "Mother's Day" remake but it is some sort of international sales promo that's found it's way online. Truth be told I've read the synopsis and watched the video and I'm still not 100% sure what the movie is about but it still looks pretty dandy. I assume it takes place on mothers day, right? Someone? I'm so confused and frightened.

"Gut" is a indie movie about two guys who end up watching some sort of awful movie based on one of the guy's suggestions and things get weird. They don't tell you what the movie is but my guess is it's some sort of snuff, autopsy or French film. Feel free to make your own guesses.

James Franco is set to direct and star in a new film about the real life slasher Richard Ramirez, better know as "The Night Stalker". Here's the fun part, Soundgarden front man Chris Cornell is also set to produce the film. Just tossing this out there, but what about getting that guy from Crazytown to compose the score?

If you had to put together the greatest cast of all time who would you pick? Don't bother thinking about it because the makers of "The Bleeding" have already done it. The answer? Vinnie Jones, Michael Matthias, Michael Madsen, DMX, Armand Assante and Kat Von D. Take a few minutes to compose yourself before checking out the clip because you might vomit from excitement.

In Real People News:

This is why the Druids invented cell phones with video cameras. The Boston Blazer's which are some sort of local team that play some sport are in trouble after their halftime show features three women dressed in next to nothing gave their mascot lap dances. The only disappointing part? The team apologized for the good time after the show. Boo Boston!

When a mother and daughter take out time to do things together it's a wonderful thing. That is of course unless that mother and daughter are torturing animals and keeping the corpses in their house like this duo on Long Island. Just to confirm that isn't a wonderful thing at all, unless you're some kind of sicko, then it's probably right up your alley.

Trailer: "Rare Exports"

A few years ago, you may remember some very cool, award winning shorts on YouTube under the title "Rare Exports" created by director Jalmari Helander. Seems those shorts have already acquired a cult reputation in the internet, and spawned a full fledged movie.

A film for those who think they don't believe in Santa Claus anymore.

In the depths of the Korvatunturi mountains, 486 meters deep, lies the closest ever guarded secret of Christmas. The time has come to dig it up!

This Christmas.... everyone will believe in Santa Claus.

The Chicago Horror Film Festival

If you're even remotely interested in horror (and if you're not, why the hell are you reading this?) and you're anywhere near the Chicago area, you MUST check out the Chicago Horror Film Festival, hosted by author Jason Davis this coming weekend. This is a HUGE event spanning 3 days between this Friday, September 24th and Sunday the 26th. They have an amazing line up (click here to see), including one I've been salivating to see, "The Man Who Collected Food".

Thicker Than Water: The Vampire Diaries Volume 1 (REVIEW)

The horror genre, specifically the vampire sub-genre, is home to many low budget horror films. Possibly out striping any other genre for commonality and accessability, the internet is home to a multitude of them. With the number of conventions and film festivals across the country that give attention to this sect of filmmaking, it's no surprise. With such a large volume of content however, especially with content that skirts around over used territory, it takes a special film to stand out from the crowd. With Phil Messerer's "Thicker Than Water: The Vampire Diaries Vol.

Tenney's "Brain Dead" Gets Release!

Kevin Tenney has been busy lately. First of all, he's been producing a remake of his 80's classic "Night of the Demons", which is actually looking like it will get some type of theatrical release.

Apparently he's also been working on a zombie film called "Brain Dead", and the news today is that it will be getting a limited theatrical release in just a few short weeks. March 30th, 2009 to be exact. Synopsis and trailer below:

Trailer For "Parts Unknown" !?

This is really the kind of thing for Mark and his obsession with professional wrestling, but since I know there's no way he's up this early, I figured I'd take it on myself. (I kid because I love)

This is an Indie feature called "Parts Unknown", and between the trailer and the synopsis, there shouldn't be a whole lot of selling I need to do. So, here's what you require:
