BGH Classic Pack - It Might Get Weird

Horror films are about pushing boundaries. And when you're all alone, watching along in the dark, you only have to tolerate what you're comfortable with. But sometimes, in the service of the podcast, the crew might push its own boundaries, and that's where things can get weird. "American Mary" was a recent example, but definitely not the only one.

Most thunderstorms are scary. They're even scarier when every time it storms, some fat kid climbs out of your basement in a mask and hacks up your family, such as in the tale of Basement Jack.

Thirst (REVIEW)

For whatever reason, we seem to be living in the age of vampire love. It seems you couldn’t walk into a cinema or turn on a TV this year without seeing a person conflicted about their desire to bang an animated blood-drinking revenant.

Horror Headlines: Friday April 10th, 2009

"The Cell 2" hits DVD and Blu-Ray June 16th, and the artwork's at the link. You know, in case you thought there were unanswered questions from the original.

There's a new "Uncle Coffins" commercial up at the "H2" Myspace, and still nothing from Danielle Harris. The wait continues...

Hot chick Erica Leerhsen is in "The Message", which has a trailer at the link. Leerhsen's prevous credits include "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (2003) and "Blair Witch 2: Book of Shadows".

I'm not really sure that I'm anticipating Park Chan Wook's "Thirst" as much as everyone else is, but Twitch calls this trailer "brilliant", so I guess I'm just going to roll with it. Check it at the link.

Liam Neeson and Ralph Feinnes will star in the "Clash of the Titans" remake currently in development over at Warner Bro's. That may be more fancy Britishness than one set is capable of handling.

In Real People News:

What would you do if you encountered a rare 1,1000 lb shark that has only been seen in the wild 41 times in history? Study it? Try to learn more? Apparently if you're in the Philippines, the answer is "eat it".

Ohio caller to a pop-radio station confesses to murder of bully in 1988. Sure seems like an unorthodox way to try and win concert tickets, but at least he gave it the old college try.

Guy busted for making Crack in a microwave? You tell ME where this happened.

The Sun claims this British guy found the visage of "Ghostface" in his bar of soap. Two things. 1: That doesn't look like Ghostface but it is kind of odd... 2: That soapdish makes me want to vomit.

1947: Agents of the FBI pay a visit to Screen Actors Guild president Ronald Reagan and his wife, actress Jane Wyman. They accuse the couple of belonging to Communist front groups. Reagan quickly agrees to become a secret informer.

Here's a cool new poster for "Martyrs", the French film which I'm sure you're all getting close to sick of hearing about. Featured on the new quad are a handful of quotes from some other horror sites, which is always a cool thing to see, even if John Shelton's name is conspicuously missing from it ;)

This is a teaser for "Freddy Vs Jason Vs Ash: The Nightmare Warriors #1 and it's pretty kick ass. Just think, instead of the remakes we could be seeing this action on the big screen. Such a shame.

Alyssa Milano will be doing the vocals for Sigourney Weaver's character in the upcoming "Ghostbusters" game. That's what you call a "boner upgrade" my friend.

Variety reports on why the original poster for Park Chan-Wook's "Thirst" was banned in his native Korea. You can take a look at the comparison at the link. The original is a little sexier, but the revamped version actually turned out visually more interesting. Go figure?

Shawnee Smith to return as Amanda in "Saw VI". The producer also says it will be "a lot more violent than the previous five". Um... okay. All I want to know is when will they bring Tobin Bell back as a zombie, because we all know that's the logical place this series should go.

In Real People News:

Company in Thailand markets "Ghost Repellent Machine", which "uses a camera to capture a ghost's image, then bombards it with their Wave Killer technology. Sure your wiener shrinks as a side effect, but your home will be ghost free!

Having successfully rid Gambia of "all the gays", their president is now trying to get rid of all the witches. In this topsy turvy world, it's at least good to know that a politician somewhere is getting something done .

Man kills wife because she interrupted his "drinking time". I have nothing to say about this that won't be incredibly offensive, so you'll have to pen your own finely crafted jokes.

1989: A 1000-foot diameter asteroid misses the Earth by only 500,000 miles. (Astronomers did not see it until it passed.)

Horror Headlines: Tuesday March 16th, 2009

Here's the teaser for Park Chan Wook's vampire film "Thirst". I have no idea what's going on since it's in Korean but people seem excited so I'm just going to go with it.

The guy who wrote "Watchmen", David Hayter is going to direct a werewolf thriller called "Slaughter's Road". No real details as of yet, but Thomas Dekker ("The Sarah Connor Chronicles") and Ray Stevenson ("Punisher: War Zone") are in talks to star.

AICN has the first look at "Goon", the CGI adaptation of Eric Powell's comic book of the same name, being produced by David Fincher. I've never heard of the property but it looks pretty sweet to me.

I'm sure this movie "And Soon the Darkness" is about something. Personally, I stopped reading after "starring Amber Heard and Odette Youstman". What are they trying to start the apocalypse? Do they sincerely thing our pea-brains can handle all that hotness on one movie screen?

In Real People News:

Officials are trying to ban genital waxing in New Jersey. This should be fine, since there aren't any hairy Italian people running around... oh wait...

Hiding stuff in plain sight is sometimes a great tact... unless of course you're talking about growing weed. In that case, keeping the plants on your front porch might not be a great idea.

When he dies Michael Jackson plans to be "plastinated", just like those poor Chinese people in the "Body Worlds" exhibit currently traveling the country. Enjoy that breakfast!

On this day in history:

1942: John Wayne Gacy, part time clown, serial killer, and sodomizer of dozens of boys, is born in Chicago. His father was convinced Gacy was a "sissy", but friends and family didn't really suspect anything untoward was afoot until his 1968 arrest for coercing a teenage boy employee into committing multiple homosexual acts.
