Horror By the Sub-Genres: Single Location Horror

Isolation is at the base of nearly every horror film ever made. Even when it is not explicit within the story or the source of the horror itself, isolation is one of the key elements that creates the suspense and dread necessary for a film to be considered horror.

Don't Look Up (REVIEW)

I’m a “glass is half full” kind of guy. I try to find the positive side of everything in my life. For example, when I was recently dumped via text message, I rationalized it by being grateful that it saved me a trip across town to have that conversation in person. When I was recovering from surgery this Summer and couldn’t drink for two months, I considered it a perfect opportunity to save some money and drop some pounds. That said, I can’t find anything positive about this movie.

Horror Headlines: Thursday September 9th, 2010

If you're as excited about the upcoming Fall TV season's I am... and that's not even sarcasm, you'll be giddy to know that Robert Englund will be appearing on the Halloween episode of "Chuck". He'll be playing a guest at Chuck's Halloween party and will be dressed as Freddy Krueger, but here's the twist... it's a slutty Freddy Krueger!

Word around campus is Universal has agreed to produce three films and a TV shows based on Stephen King's seven Dark Tower novels. None other then Ron Howard has signed on to direct the first film and TV series and if I knew how to read I'd be wetting myself with excitement right now.

And lastly today we have the first trailer for "Zombie Roadkill". If you couldn't guess by the title the film is about our furry little splattered roadside friends that come back to life and take revenge on some unsuspecting drivers. Looks like a hoot!

In Real People News:

The good people over at XBox are doing some apologizing right now after accusing a 26 year old Virgina man of violating their online gaming service's code of conduct. The reason they he was being shut down? He's from Fort Gay Virgina. Even funnier? My hometown of Clown Dick, New Jersey has never raised an eyebrow.

On this day in history:

1971 - Prisoners seized control of the maximum-security Attica Correctional Facility near Buffalo, N.Y., beginning a four-day siege that claimed 43 lives.

Horror Headlines: Tuesday August 31st, 2010

A new clip for the upcoming trapped in an elevator thriller "Devil" has found its way online. It's full of blood, horror and suspense. But you'll probably only pay attention to the last 2 seconds where you see down the girls shirt. You're so predictable.

Muscle cars and zombies in Vegas you say? I'm pretty sure the creators of the new Xbox 360 game "Blood Drive" are listening in on my drunken rants, but I couldn't be happier. The game sounds awesome.

We've got the first details on casting from the upcoming killer shark flick "Shark Night 3-D". Sinqua Walls, Chris Carmack, Alyssa Diaz and Joel David Moore. The last guy is the doofy looking kid from "Avatar", I'm really drawing a blank on the rest.

In Real People News:

Now I in no way can condone beating the crap out of someone in public, especially a Walmart Employee. But if you're going to do it please make sure you get it on tape like the good people of Golden Colorado did.

On this day in history:

1997 - Britain's Princess Diana died in a car crash in Paris at age 36.

Horror Headlines: Wednesday July 7th, 2010

Universal Studios had planned a nifty little series of horror movies based on the stories of M. Night Shyamalan, the first of which was to be titled "The Night Chronicles: Devil". With the rash of reviews coming in after Shyamalan's live action "Last Airbender" outing, the studio has decided to axe "The Night Chronicles" from the title.

If for some reason you were hoping to see Shannon Doherty return for the upcoming "Scream IV", I'm here to dash your hopes and reassure you that this is good news; Dimension Films has confirmed that Shannon and Rachel McAdams will not be appearing in the new feature. Too bad, so sad.

Atom.com is a little tired of this whole "Twilight" craze and their deconstruction of our beloved vampires and werewolves, so they've opened up a channel called simply; "Twilight: For Guys". Filled with shorts that feature more manly creatures and scantily clad cheerleaders,... at least a step in the right direction.

In Real People News:

This poor 91 year old Pennsylvania woman was so bereft after the death of her husband and twin sister, she had their embalmed corpses dug up and moved into her home so she could visit with them every day. In response, the senior citizen is quoted: "I don't handle death very well". You don't say.

Conservationists found an injured Peregrine Falcon in the road near Guernsey. They're pretty positive that the bird was injured when a seagull barfed on it. And you thought flying poop was a bird's deadliest weapon.
