Horror Icon Mini-Marathon: LARRY COHEN

Some filmmakers always work in the same genre or sub-genre because they have a subconscious connection to the material at hand; Hitchcock’s story of being taken down to a jail as a child was certainly scarring enough that he spent his entire adult life making films about wrongfully accused men trying to clear their name. But there are other filmmakers who make, quite literally, anything that crosses their mind.

10 Parasitic Horror Movies

The typical reaction when I mention parasites is for a small shudder to course though the listener's body and some kind of verbal reaction such as, "Oh man, gross!" But really, are they so bad? So apparently, if you are a miner and you witness a strange goo-like substance erupting from the earth deep within your mine shaft, your first instinct would be to taste the stuff. Am I right?! In writer and director Larry Cohen's horror comedy, the goo found in the earth is found to be sweet, creamy, delicious and best of all no calories! Understandably so, the stuff becomes a nationwide craze (I mean, c'mon, who doesn't wanna eat stuff found oozing out of the ground?!) and even begins hurting ice cream sales.

Sure, Football is on every year but let's face it; The Lions suck and Tony Romo is a douche. So why not watch some movies instead? To fit the spirit of the season, that spirit being 'food', I've thrown together a list of 10 movies that use food as some form of central theme! (Or at least as a nice little disturbing sub plot at the very least.)
