Capturing Film's Unseen Moments: An Interview with Kim Gottlieb-Walker

Kim Gottlieb-Walker has worked with many titans of film like John Carpenter, Steven Spielberg, and Clint Eastwood. Shooting not only for film and television, she is responsible for many of the iconic photos of Bob Marley that we have today. She also honorably represents the Cinematographer’s Guild on their National Executive Board. Kim was gracious enough to let me interview her about her decades of experience.

You've worked on several of John Carpenter's films. Can you tell us what that experience was like from film to film working with the same director?

"They Live" & "Halloween" Anniversary Screening with John Carpenter Q+A recap

Event number two for John Carpenter this month! If you haven't yet, check out my last post about the anniversary screening for John Carpenter's "The Thing". He did a round of Q&A then too and surprisingly the questions asked this time were all different than from before.

BGH Classic Pack - Deep Cuts

For any number of reasons, some episodes of the Bloody Good Horror Podcast have never been available as part of our BGH Classics. Call it a mystery. Call it a conspiracy. Call it laziness. Today, we can call it a thing of the past. We're plugging holes here people!

BGH Classic Pack - Remake-Apolooza! Vol. 2

We know that not all horror remakes are created equal. As we explored in the first volume of BGH Classic's Remake-Apolooza, with the right mix of vision and talent you can rework a classic. This week marks one of the biggest tests of that theory to date, as the long-anticipated "Evil Dead" reimagining hits theaters -- and the Bloody Good Horror podcast.

Snapshots: "Silent Hill" and its nurses are a week away

Next Friday sees the release of one of the more unlikely sequels this year, "Silent Hill: Revelation 3D". In preparation, I plan to watch walkthroughs of the early games on Youtube this week. I mean, I'd probably do that anyway because I'm mentally ill but at least this way I can chalk it up to "research". Here's one of the latest stills, featuring the series' trademark sexy nurses. I mean, I guess they're supposed to be gross dead nurses, but they're clearly sending mixed signals here... just sayin.

Carpenter's "Halloween" coming back to theaters

Years ago I saw John Carpenter's "Halloween" on the big screen, sort of... I showed up to the screening incredibly excited, but was quickly disillusioned when I realized what I was watching was a DVD of the film projected on the big screen. The end product of this was a muddy, dark picture with terrible sound. Needless to say, I'm eager to wipe that experience from my memory.

American Horror Story: Halloween Part 1 (Episode 4)

Legend has it that Halloween night is the night the dead are able to walk the earth with the living. However, in the Harmon household, they don't really seem to need a special day or an invitation to do it. And so begins the first part of our Halloween episodes of "American Horror Story." In this episode we learn the backstory behind the last owners of the house, the fabulous and bickering couple Chad (Zachary Quinto) and Patrick (Teddy Sears), a major character dies, another rises from the dead and the gimp suit returns.

Best Halloween Lights Ever?

As a Dad and home owner, I'm pretty into my Halloween decorations. I've got nothing on these people though!

My one caveat: If this was my house, I'd have the entire family in costume doing the zombie dance in the drive way! Add that, they'd have a home run.
