Shelf Space: "The Fog" Blu-ray Review

HI! My name is Jake. Since all I really do is sit in the dark and watch movies, I've been trusted to do some home media reviews for the site. There are tons of cult/horror blu-rays coming out every month but we, the fans, can only take home so many.. Shelf Space was created to help be your guiding light when making those tough decisions. It's an honor to be let aboard the Bloody Good Horror pimp ship as it continues its journey to internet greatness.

Evil Dead (REVIEW)

At a certain point while watching "Evil Dead" I thought to myself that this might just be the goriest film I have ever seen in theaters. That's a caveat worth noting. I would expect that most people visiting this site regularly have absolutely seen gorier films, but I can confidently say that there are things in "Evil Dead" that your average movie-goer has never before seen on a big screen. It's this ability to mimic, and at times honor the splatter-house roots of the original "Evil Dead" that makes this remake such a success.

Beyond the Black Rainbow (REVIEW)

"Beyond the Black Rainbow" is a film that defies criticism. It's mercurial, only threatening on occasion to amass into something solid, something that can be quantified and critiqued. In fact, I'd be inclined to call it nonsense, if it weren't for the fact that it's so damn beautiful.

Described as a "Reagan-era fever dream inspired by hazy childhood memories of midnight movies and Saturday morning cartoons", "Beyond the Black Rainbow" centers on The Arboria institute, where creepy Dr. Nyle keeps a young girl captive in an all white room, cut off from the rest of the world.
