Horror Headlines: Thursday April 8th, 2010

I'm still not totally sold on the idea of a prequel to "The Thing", regardless of the flick's potential. To help bolster interest, the very first photo from the set of the film has been released to the general public, but to be quite honest, there's really not a whole lot to look at. Unless, of course, you like random buildings and snow.

When things slow down at work for a moment, take some time today to properly investgate the brand spanking new trailer for SyFy's Mega Piranha. The film stars Barry Williams and Tiffany. How could things possibly go wrong?

Just when you thought it was safe to vacation in Australia, the dreaded tree-climbing, blood-drinking snakehead fish shows up to ruin the proverbial party. If this isn't a marketing gimmick, then it should be.

On this day in history:

1988 -- Reverend Jimmy Swaggart quits the ministry after coming clean about his involvement with a prostitute.

Todd has been a slave to the horror genre for as long as he can remember. After cutting his teeth on late-night Cinemax schlock and the low-budget offerings found on the classic USA program "Up All Night," our hero moved valiantly into the world of sleazy obscura, consuming the oddest films from around the world with the reckless abandon of a man without fear or reason. When he isn't sitting mindlessly in front of a television set, he can be found stuffing music, video games, and various literary scribblings into his already cluttered mindscape.
