Horror Headlines: Thursday February 26th, 2009

Both of the classics "Total Recall", and "A Neverending Story" are in the final stages of securing deals to be remade. I figured it's like a punch in the nuts, you might as well get it out of the way right off the bat. Now, let me rub some ice on th... wait, nevermind.

Looks like you're going to have to wait a while for that "Jonah Hex" adaptation, the official release date is now August 10th, 2010. The film is directed by Jimmy Hayward and stars Josh Brolin and John Malkovich (!). Based on an original comic series, the story concerns "the adventures of a Wild West Bounty Hunter whose horrifically scarred face and personality hide his honorable nature". There are also supernatural and horror themes in the books, but those are not mentioned so far in the official logline.

Empire's new cover has some spiffy new promo art for "Terminator Salvation", showing Christian Bale as John Connor and what looks like some type of robot arm gripping his head.

Dark Castle's original film "The Factory" has been pushed to an October 22nd, 2010 release date. The film, starring John Cusack as an obsessed cop on the trail of a serial killer, was actually finished last Spring. So, fess up DC, why the long wait?

Zombie children rule the day in new "[REC]2" image. And yes, I'm linking you to a Spanish site again. You could stand for some culture people, after all, you are hanging out on this site.

Mischa Barton plays an Engineer in the direct to DVD film "Walled In". In order to take on the role, Mischa graduated from the "Tara Reid School of Being a Scientist in Shitty Movies". Basically, you pay Tara Reid about $20,000, and she tells you to wear glasses. Ya, I kind of thought it was a ripoff too.

For Christ's sake people... am I really going to have to start reporting news on a Ouija board movie? Consider that your revenge for me battering your balls with remake news every day.

Wow, this should heal all of our wounds today, check out these amazing images from Vincenzo Natali's "Splice". The flick is being produced by his buddy Guillermo Del Toro, and is about a scientist breaking new ground with human/animal DNA splicing, who creates a dangerous "chimera" creature. I can't stress this enough people, out of all these stories, click on this link.

No matter how smooth and rounded you make a videogame controller, someone will find a way to play it until they hurt themselves. This one is new though, as a skin disorder has just been invented called "PlayStation palmar hidradentitis".

On this day in history:
