Tales from the Hood (REVIEW)

Since the election of President Obama, a lot of people have seemingly been ready to declare racism dead and announce that we now live in a “post-racial” America. Despite the fact that we now have an African-American President, there’s a pretty alarming rise in public displays of racism in America today. In fact, just this weekend I witnessed two pretty alarming outbursts directed at minorities while out and about. It was disgusting and pretty shocking to witness something like that, yet alone during the Holiday season.

"District 9" Trailer, Feaux Alien Doc

"District 9" is a mockumentary set in a fictional South Africa which has been filled with Alien refugees... literally. The film is a not so subtle riff on racism and xenophobia, but with a strange sci-fi bent.

This is a "Peter Jackson Presents" production, helmed by South African director Neill Blomkamp, whose previous visual effects credits include "3000 Miles to Graceland", as well as the TV shows "Dark Angel" and "Smallville". No word on how wide the release will be, but IMDB has it pegged for August 14th, 2009. Looks pretty mindblowing to me!
