Album Review: Five Finger Death Punch - "American Capitalist"

Balanced on the precipice of widespread fame with the engine running, Five Finger Death Punch has released their third album, “American Capitalist” to the world. There are certain universal truths of all 5FDP releases, and those haven’t changed; Zoltan Bathory and Jason Hook’s combined guitars will push the envelope for grit and distorted destruction, while the rest of the band operates in that framework. Additionally, the songs will be brimming with concepts of spite, defiance and personal perseverance.

Concert Review - Five Finger Death Punch

Several years ago, I had the opportunity to see Motograter live before they truly hit the skids and disintegrated as a band. At the time, I remember thinking that Ivan Moody was one of the more energetic, if not entirely charismatic, frontmen that I had seen. His mixture of intensity and grit was a sight to behold. So, with the chance to see him again, this time without body paint and singing for the power quintet Five Finger Death Punch, I was really looking forward to what the night would entail.

Five Finger Death Punch - "War is the Answer" Review

The first and most important thing about Five Finger Death Punch's album "War is the Answer" is that it is steadfastly honest. There is no dense allegory, no convoluted metaphor, nothing that makes the listener strain to understand the album's intent. This is pure, unadulterated American heavy metal, with no sidebars, no apologies and no layers. This is the album's most redeemable quality and its strongest cornerstone.
