Masked maniac in "Tales of Halloween"

Zombies, Maniacs and Killer Pumpkins Galore in "Tales of Halloween" Trailer

For some horror fans, the mere mention of a new anthology film set on Halloween may elicit cries of “Trick r’ Treat’did it!” However, the makers of Tales of Halloween are hoping fans can find room in their hearts and, maybe one day, in their Blu-ray collections for another Halloween-centric collection of shorts.

In the film – which features segments directed by eleven filmmakers – a murderers’ row of genre monsters descends on a small town to wreak havoc on Halloween. The brief (and slightly NSFW) teaser is rife with quick shots of people running in terror from zombies, hulking slashers and man-eating pumpkins among other villains.

The real star of the trailer, however, is the list of directorial talent assembled to bring the project to life. Unfortunately, not all of that talent is actually directing anything. Much of it will be on the other side of the camera. In the director’s chair are folks like Neil Marshall, Lucky McKee and Darren Lynn Bousman. Meanwhile, on screen – in addition to your Lin Shayes, your Adrienne Barbeaus and your Barry Bostwicks – are directorial luminaries such as Joe Dante, John Landis, Adam Green, Stuart Gordon and Mick Garris.

Tales of Halloween will be in theaters on Oct. 14.
