Monster from the new film "Krampus"

You Better Watch Out, the "Krampus" Trailer is Coming to Town

Move over, Elf on the Shelf. The new trailer for Krampus has sounded the alarm that the original bad boy of Christmas is back and he is ready to spread whatever the polar opposite of holiday cheer is. Jump in bed and cover up your head because this holiday season, a giant goat creature and his legions of ghoulishly festive minions come to town!

The trailer for Krampus opens with a pair of parents (Adam Scott and Toni Collette) attempting to survive the holiday season with their sanity and their finances intact. Then, a visit from the extended family heaps even more stress upon an already tense situation. As is often the case in the holiday genre, everything about this goes terribly wrong and everyone is miserable. Soon letters to Santa are being shredded, Dad is doing some boozing on the sly and everyone is stuck in the house without power due to a massive blizzard. This is no ordinary blizzard. This storm marks the arrival of Krampus, an ancient evil – known ever-so-coolly as “the shadow of St. Nicholas” – who’s there to punish the family for being a bunch of Grinches.

Krampus also stars David Koechner, who will be once again playing an obnoxious jerk, a role he never fails to delight in. It was directed by Michael Dougherty (who brought us Trick ‘r Treat) and was written by Dougherty, Todd Casey and Zach Shields. Krampus comes to theaters on Dec. 4.
