Spike 2008 Scream Awards

Hey guys, just a heads up that our partners over at Spike TV are holding their annual Scream Awards next week. The show is meant to celebrate all things genre related, and all awards are voted upon by the fans. Here's the official description of the event:

Featuring distinctive categories and a diverse mixture of popular icons and outrageous creators, Spike TV’s “SCREAM 2008” will honor the newest and hottest in horror, sci-fi, fantasy and comic genres across a number of entertainment platforms, including movies, television and comic books. The show will also recognize icons and pioneers who have influenced and shaped the industry. The show airs next Tuesday 10/21 at 9PM on SPIKE.

If you're reading this Thursday night, voting is still open for the awards until midnight (I assume US Eastern time, but not sure). If you're catching this after that, you'll just have to wait until Tuesday night to see who wins. The ceremony has gotten a lot of accolades, specifically from comic book fans who have been excited to see a mainstream entity giving comic books the creative recognition they deserve.

They're also very open to fan feedback, so even if you miss voting there's a link to email them at the site, where you can chime in and let them know exactly what they're doing right, or as the case may be, what you think they're doing wrong.

And just in case you weren't familiar with the show... here's a highlight reel from last year, complete with Sid Haig and Danny Trejo presenting an award together. How can you go wrong with that?
