Social Media Gaming Takes a Deadly Turn in the "#Horror" Trailer

The typical worst case scenario for tweens who get a little too into social media games is that they spend too much of their parents’ money and have to miss opening night of the latest YA-adaption to hit theaters because they're grounded. For the tweens in the trailer for the new flick #Horror, the worst case is way, way worse. Gaming turns into cyber-bulling which spirals into a night of blood and violence.

At least, that’s what can be surmised from the film’s official plot synopsis. The trailer itself is a little light on the specifics but heavy on the flash and style. The first part is mostly devoted to tweens doing dumb tween things. They dance around in strange clothes, they’re constantly on their phones, they say things like “besties” and they’re cruel to each other for no reason. Following a nasty moment with a hashtag, one of the tweens finds a blood-splattered car. That’s when things go full slasher and the girls are stalked and attacked one-by-one by a mostly unseen menace.

#Horror is the directorial debut of artist, model and actress Tara Subkoff. It sports a very impressive adult cast which includes Chloë Sevigny, Natasha Lyonne, Taryn Manning and Timothy Hutton in addition to the tweens. #Horror comes to theaters and VOD on November 20.
