Horror Headlines: Friday May 1st, 2009

Cormac McCarthy's adaptation of his novel "The Road" gets a release date in October. Word is they're pushing for an Oscar, hence the pushback from last November. The film Charlize Theron, Viggo Mortenson, Guy Pearce, Robert Duvall and more star in "a post-apocalyptic tale of a man and his son trying to survive by any means possible".

John Harrison's adaptation of Clive Barker's "Book of Blood" is going to debut on the SyFy channel. Oh boy, that can't possibly be a good thing, can it? That's what he told a crowd at a convention this past weekend, as well as mentioning that September will probably be the target for the debut.

Todd McFarlane has 5 offers on the table to do a "Spawn" remake, but the caveat is that he wants to direct. We all know how the first "Spawn" movie turned out, what do you guys think?

Katie Cassidy joins the cast of "A Nightmare on Elm St.", the remake. I'm not familiar with her work but from the pictures I see online, I can confidently deduce that she's super hot. So, she's got that going for her.

Warner Bro's will be releasing the American remake of "Death Note", a property based on a Manga and made into a live-action film in Japan. Vertigo films will be producing.

In Real People News:

Man gets

Teen arrested after stealing tons of condoms from a CVS, not aware that he was being watched by a surveillance camera the entire time. If someone had just told him how douchey his mohawk was to begin with, he wouldn't have been under the false pretense that he was capable of getting laid in the first place (pic at the link).

It turns out the more often you go to go to church, the more likely you are to support torture. Hmm, ain't that something.

On this day in history:

2003: Commander in Chief George W. Bush rides shotgun aboard a Navy S-3B Viking jet, lands on the USS Abraham Lincoln, marking the first time a president has boarded an aircraft carrier by plane. Underneath a large "Mission Accomplished." sign, he announces that major combat operations in Iraq have ended.
