Nerdist Releases Horror Friendly Fall Slate

Nerdist kicked off a rather large YouTube channel to go along with their bevy of podcast titles.   Recently, the network announced their new slate of shows, revealing two new horror themed shows!

By now, we've all heard of Chris Hardwick and his Nerdist.com network.  He's all over everything genre related these days.  For years he's managed a fleet of podcasts over many different niche interests and last year, he launched a YouTube channel go along with it.

Most of the shows were again, centered on various niche's of nerd interest, but few had anything in particular to do with horror. This season, the Nerdist and released it's new list of shows and there's two horror centric shows on the docket.

First up, is "Real Houswives of Horror":

"Kevin Pereira (G4′s Attack of the Show) and Brea Grant’s (Heroes, Dexter) pitch perfect parody of those Real Housewives shows, but with the assumption that all the Housewives are married to famous movie monsters, serial killers, and all manner of spooky, scary creatures. They’re at least as frightening as the actual Housewives, if not ten to seventy-five percent scarier."

It's fun to laugh at the so-called 'reality' shows based on famous "House Wives" when they show ridiculous clips on "The Soup". It's generally a pretty miserable experience to sit through the the whole show though. Unless you're Joe. He seems to love that stuff. However, if they keep these YouTube bits fairly short, it could be a good bit of fun. Plus, it has Brea Grant on board, who has shown that she's got a good hand at writing thanks to her comic book work.

Next up is Scott Ian's FX Feature show, "Scott Ian's Bloodworks":

"If you consider yourself a true horrorhound, you definitely won’t want to miss Scott Ian’s Bloodworks, an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the best, brightest, and bloodiest special effects and makeup houses in the business hosted by musician Scott Ian of Anthrax. Ever wonder how the zombies on The Walking Dead look so good when Michonne is beheading them with her katana? You’ll find out that and much, much more on Scott Ian’s Bloodworks. Just be sure to bring a poncho because you are likely sitting in the splash zone."

Scott Ian's well known for being into comics and horror, so this should hopefully be a no brainer. I myself have a blast watching behind the scenes features that show the sculpting and work that goes into horror FX and Scott Ian should be a good host to bring them proper respect and enthusiasm.

There's no certain date listed for the start of these new shows, but you can head over Nerdist.com to read about the entire slate of shows coming up on their YouTube channel.
