Avenged Sevenfold

Concert Review - Avenged Sevenfold

The show began with a hanging. The crowd cheered.

We’ll get back to that in a minute. Roughly an hour before the body was hung from the rafters and following a solid, capable performance by veterans Sevendust, Three Days Grace took to the stage. Capturing the attention of the largely teen crowd, the band rode through a complete set of their (remarkably similar) singles, the highlight being 2006’s “Pain.”

Album Review: Avenged Sevenfold - "Nightmare"

As a music reviewer, you begin to develop an intuitive sense of what to expect from an album. Either through past albums, band news reports or the paradigm of whatever metal splinter genre you are encountering, it’s easy to create a mindset for an album before you ever sit down and give it your full attention.

Generally, one of three things happens: Either you expect the album to be great and it is great, you expect it to be poor and it is poor, or in disappointing fashion, you expect greatness and are rewarded with mediocrity.

Heavy Metal News Updates!

- First and Foremost, the somewhat somber news late last week that Dream Theater's Mike Portnoy is finishing off recording tracks for the new Avenged Sevenfold album. This of course comes following the news of The Rev's passing a couple months ago. The show must go on, I suppose.
