Babysitting a Doll is Hard, According to "The Boy" Trailer

There’s a lesson in the new trailer for The Boy: If someone is willing to pay you to babysit a doll and you’re A-OK with exploiting the likely-mentally ill for a paycheck, at least do a good job. That means sticking to whatever rules that person gives you on keeping the doll happy, provided they’re not illegal or dangerous. In 99 out of 100 situations, you’re simply burning empty calories to appease your new, probably crazy, boss. However there is also a slight chance that something sinister may be afoot and those rules may actually be of grave importance.

All signs point to the latter being true in The Boy. In the film, an American nanny named Greta (Lauren Cohan of The Walking Dead) is hired by a wealthy English couple to stay in their giant gothic mansion and babysit their son Brahms. Well, Brahms is a doll and for some reason, maybe the pay, she decides to take the job anyway. Greta proceeds to break a whole bunch of rules on how to care for Brahms and this sets off a series of increasingly mysterious and sinister occurrences, all centering around the doll.

The Boy was written by Stacey Menear and directed by William Brent Bell. It will be in theaters on January 22.
