A First Look at NeoCore Games "Deathtrap"

NeoCore games have already wowed us with their monster themed action RPG "The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing", can they provide us the same monster slaying fun in their darkly themed Tower Defense "Death Trap"?

As a big fan of Action RPG's in the vein of "Diablo", NeoCore's "Van Helsing" proved to be a blast.  The studio did a great job with piling on the gothic atmosphere to go along with the action packed monster slaying.  While they've already released a sequel to 2013's "Van Helsing" and working on a third, the studio is now preparing to dip their toes into the Tower Defense arena with "Death Trap"!

"Beyond the veil of this world, deep in the whirling mists of the otherworld there are islands in the void. They give home to a chain of strongholds that were once built to keep the horrors of the void at bay. And now the monsters are returning to conquer and kill. Legendary beasts are waking up from their slumber, creatures of mad science flee from the secret laboratories and the eternal night breeds living shadows once more. Only you can stop the horrors before they break through to the everyday world. Choose your hero carefully and defend the underground mazes and the silent forts. Use, rebuild and improve the ancient traps and rusty machines that fill the vaults. Deathrap is a unique mixture of action-RPGs and Tower Defense games, a game of vicious tricks, killing machines, rotating blades and splattering blood. Be clever, be quick – and show no mercy." While I'm not well versed in the Tower Defense genre, I love any game with a good atmosphere and monsters to slay. As you can see by the screen shots, "Deathtrap" seems to have a good grasp on both factors! Plus, NeoCore has already proven they can put together a solid game with "Van Helsing", which means this should be a game to look forward to. There's not a specific release date for "Deathtrap" as of yet, though they say to look for it in the Fall of 2014, so we're almost there! The game launches on Steam for $19.99 with PS4 and XboxOne flavors coming later in the year!
