So when I first read that Adam Sandler's production company Happy Madison was making a horror movie I had some high hopes. I thought we might be getting a pretty decent little horror/comedy film that would at least be entertaining. Well unfortunately “The Short Cut” doesn’t look very funny… or scary… or good for that matter.

Edgar Allen Poe's "The Fall of the House of Usher" to be remade as "The Ushers", about a rich brother and sister living on Martha's Vineyard. Fans of the story know the basic gist, but it sounds like it's getting a modern, and decidedly annoying update. The film will be shot in 3D (?) by "Boogeyman" helmer Stephen Kay.

The CW greenlights "The Vampire Diaries", a crass attempt to cash in on the "Twilight" craze in television series form. The series comes from head writer Kevin Williamson ("Scream") and centers on a "young woman courted by two vampire brothers, one good, one evil". Sweet Jesus, it's hard to even type that without slamming your head on your desk.

Check out the first images and trailer from "The Shortcut", which is the first horror film from Adam Sandler's "Happy Madison" production company. The story centers on teens in a small town who decide to seek out the truth about a creepy old resident and the rumors that he was responsible for child abductions years earlier.

And along that same thread, here's the first trailer and stills for Stephen King's "Dolan's Cadillac". The film's directed by Jeff Beesley and stars Christian Slater, Emmanuelle Vaugier and Wes Bentley.
