preacher

Anthology films, they're so hot right now. Take "ABC's Of Death" a new one that has a short tale for each letter of the alphabet which has just been slapped with a January 31st VOD release date. Take it... I honestly have no idea how to wrap this up.

I've had a little soft spot in my heart for the big screen version of "Preacher" that's been in the works for some time now only because it's the only comic series I've ever read and I like to make annoying comments like, "Oh have you read that? It's a lot better in print form". But the thing has been in limbo for years and I had almost given up on it ever happening. But during a recent interview screenwriter John August dropped word that he really wants to see the film be made but "it won't be any time soon". Thought this was going in a different direction didn't you? Sorry.

Amazon studios still seems like some sort of weird joke to me but apparently it's a real thing and they make movies happen. They've just dropped that they'll be producing the film adaptation of the novel "Seed" which focuses on a family being terrorized by an evil presence that not only wants them to die, but die slowly. No word on director, cast or release date but rest assured you'll know about it as soon as info pops up, along with any new hot deals for your brand new Kindle Hello Kitty cover.

"Paranormal Activity 4" has been given an R rating for language and violence. We're all thinking it... booo no nudity.

Alan Tudyk has signed on to play Stephen A. Douglas in the big screen adaptation of "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter". It's funny because Alan is best know as playing Steve the Pirate in "Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story". If at any point you thought, "Oh does he mean that guy from 'Firefly'?" then I'm going to ask you to leave right now.

Chris Pine, Alex Pettyfer and Shia LaBeouf are all expressing inner desires to play the lead role in the silver screen version of "Preacher". Pettyfer is the only one keeping me from being completely enraged about this and that's only because I have no freakin clue who he is. What's that? The kid from "Beastly" you say? Super! Maybe we can get Kevin Smith to direct and we can just call it a day.

If you don't know who Ray Harryhausen is then you don't know the joys of weird ass stop motion animation of years gone by. You should, that's the point I'm making. Well if not there's a new documentary about the man behind the effect of such classics as "Clash of the Titans" (the good one) and "Jason and the Argonauts" titled "Ray Harryhausen: Special Effects Titan". Bubo, look it up.

In the wake of the recent tragedies in Japan Legendary Pictures has asked Guillermo del Toro to revise the screenplay for his upcoming disaster film "Pacific Rim". The movie focuses around the a group of monsters that attack the earth and threaten to end us all. Click here for ways that you can help in the relief effort.

A boat load of new clips and interviews have popped up on the tubes for the upcoming flick "The Mortician 3D" starring the one and only Method Man as a Mortician. Because when you're putting together a cast you want to get some or all of the Wu-Tang Clan. Puffy is good, but Wu-Tang is better, Wu-Tang is for the children. If you get the reference you're my new best friend.

DJ Caruso, who directed "Eagle Eye", "Disturbia" and "The Salton Sea" has officially signed up to directed "Preacher", a big screen adaptation of the one graphic novel I've read in my lifetime. This of course means it's my favorite graphic novel of all time so I'm super pumped about this. Yeah pictures!

If you're unfortunate enough to have seen "Knightriders" then you probably can't see Tom Savini without having awful flashbacks of him in a Speedo. Well get ready to have a seizure because there's a new documentary coming out focusing on the hairy F/X one titled "Smoke and Mirrors". To get the flash backs going the doc has a new trailer up on the nets, welcome to hell my friends.

Here's a new clip from "Battle: Los Angeles" which reiterated a point I've been making for years. Never trust dogs, ever. Or any animal really. I've got a pet turtle and I would shoot that thing in the face the second I think it's turning on me. You hear me Boxy?! You're nothing!

Sam Mendes talks to MTV about his adaptation of the graphic novel "Preacher", including when we can expect it and whether or not there will be a sequel.

Buried in this interview with Brett Easton Ellis is news about "Silent Hill 2", weird huh? The news is that, according to Ellis, Roger Avary (writer of the original SH film) will be jumping behind the cameras for the sequel. Originally Avary had said that he wouldn't write the film unless the director of the first Christophe Gans returned, but if this news is true it looks like he may have changed his tune.

For serious, people, how many trailers for "Blood: the Last Vampire" have I posted about now? I know a lot of you are anticipating this title, I'm just wondering if this isn't overkill at this point.

Paul Scheer joins the cast of "Piranha 3D". Scheer (Human Giant, Best Week Ever), brings even more comedic talent to a film that's already looking silly as hell. Is it possible that they'll overshoot the "camp" mark and ruin it? Either way, I know I can' wait to find out!

Tons of behind the scenes photos from "Saw VI", including head shots of all the new cast members and some nice BTS shots. Enjoy.
