Insidious: Chapter 2

To many modern horror fans James Wan's "Insidious" is consider a new classic for the genre. Taking many elements that belonged to previous films (Poltergeist, The Shining, etc.) and executing them differently to reveal a new flavor helped make "Insidious" feel like a welcome respite from the torture porn heyday of "Saw". Since that original film became a massive financial success there has been an onslaught of similar, albeit effective, haunted house/demon thrillers available for public consumption.

Aka the most exciting week of Carl's life...

No surprise here, Yvonne Strahovski will reprise her role as the flower sniffing killer tart in the 8th season of "Dexter", which is set to premier on June 30th. I would of liked a surprise to be honest. Like maybe they replace her with that guy from "Chuck," but don't say anything about it. All of the sudden Dexter is banging the guy from "Chuck". Boom, surprise.

When you think Jamie Foxx you think horror. It's a fact. That's why he's going to be bringing a yet to be named anthology series to Syfy in the near future. Foxx will apparently write, produce, and direct the series and possible make a few guest appearances. If he was only a hansom debonair gentleman I'd be inclined to call Mr. Foxx the full package. Oh wait. He is. Wink wink, boys.

I feel like you don't hear much about "The Bermuda Triangle" anymore. In the 80's you couldn't spit without hitting a TV special on the mystical location, but it's been years since Geraldo even mentioned the place. But now Warner Bros. has picked up the rights to a new film focusing on the location for your to polish your mustache to. No real details have been released on the flick, but if I was a betting man I'd say a boat or a plane gets lost and then stuff happens. Just guessing here though.

"Insidious: Chapter 2" has been given a September 13th release date of this very year. Get it? That's Friday the 13th. Cause the movie is spooky and Friday the 13th is a spooky day. Spooky things.

"Byzantium" sounds like an awesome Norwegian black metal band but it is in fact Neil Jordan's upcoming flick about two vampires who befriend a young girl. The film has just been slapped with a June 28th release date in limited theaters and VOD. My only hope is there's at least some corpse paint or a lanky kid who wears a ratty leather jacket. Something!

Lindsay Seim, who you might remember from... well I have no idea actually, has been confirmed to be staring in "Insidious: Chapter 2", the upcoming sequel to the 2010 much loved hit. Seim will be playing the younger version of Elise Rainer, the voodoo high priestess from the original flick. At least I think that's what she was. She spoke funny words and claimed to be able to communicate with the dead so lets call a spade a spade.

Curtis Gwinn and Channing Powell have been added to the writing team for season 4 of "The Walking Dead". Maybe they can finally write in some smiles for the gang? It can't possibly be true that not one person has cracked some pearlies since the zombie outbreak happened.

Writer Seth Grahame-Smith took to his tweets to drop a bomb that leads one to believe that he's about to put pen to paper on "Beetlejuice 2". The picture shows our favorite beetled one standing in front of a Mac with the caption "It's showtime". A clever little setup that probably took about the same time it would have taken him to write a few pages worth of the new script. But hey take your time. It hasn't even been 30 years yet.
