dark skies

Aliens be rearranging stuff in your house, son. Watch out!

Who gives a crap that there's already a movie called "Dark Skies", lets make a different one and let's make it about sharks. F the system! Let's also get Tara Reid, because she is surprisingly available, and let's toss in Cassie Scerbo and Ian Ziering, two people I don't know but look like they're pretty close to doing soft core porn. Let's make it about LA being flooded and people fighting sharks. Let's just say F you logic and reasoning.

I have always been baffled by the music in the original "The Last House on the Left" but I'm guessing some people love it so the folks at One Way Static Records are releasing the soundtrack on vinyl for the very first time. For those of you not in the know, the soundtrack was composed by David Hess, who played "Krug" in the film. He's also the same guy who had an hour long conversation with Jon from the podcast about baseball at Horror Hound Weekend a few years back and then shot him down for a photo. He's also dead.

Sony has bumped up the release of the upcoming "Evil Dead" remake to April 5th. The move is mostly due to some other film's release date shifting but still, let's call this a good thing. Let's also agree to ever talk about the one night we both went to Hooters and ended up going to the bathroom at the same time and may or may not have compared sizes. No one should ever know about that.

So "Wolf Creek 2" is happening and it looks like John Jarratt, who played the creepy killer in the first flick, will be returning. Some other Australian folks who no one knows (sorry Australian readers) will also be in the flick which will follow a group of backpackers who encounter a strange local, so pretty much the same plot as the first film.

As the "Game of Thrones" fans will tell you, 'winter is coming'. And with it a new batch of horror flicks that genre fans can get relatively excited about during the post-Halloween hangover. So here's 9 to look out for during the winter to come...

9. Beautiful Creatures

Date: February 1
Director: Richard LaGravenese
Cast: Alice Englert, Viola Davis, Emmy Rossum & Emma Thompson

Alexander Ludwig was apparently in "The Hunger Games" but I'm pretty sure I'd remember seeing his prick looking face during the film so I'm not positive he was. He will be in the new revenge flick "Final Girl" though. Or at least that's what the hyper tubes are telling me. Ludwig (just typing that makes me angry) will play one of the young lads who pick the wrong girl to harass and find themselves in a world of hurt.

Hey don't you just love Rutina Wesley on "True Blood"?! Trick question! If you said yes then we can't be friends anymore. But let's settle this later because right now we're talking about how Rutina has been cast in "Angry Little Gods", the US remake of the Thai horror flick "13: Game of Death". The flick focuses on a man trying to pay for his wedding when he's told he's on a hidden camera show and must complete 13 tasks. If task number 1 was to watch an episode of "True Blood" I'd lose before that stupid theme song was over.

Dimension Films has slapped their new alien abduction flick "Dark Skies" with a February 22nd 2013 release date. Staring Keri Russell (OMG Felicity!) the film focuses on a family being terrorized by aliens who invade their home each night. Alright I've never seen an episode of "Felicity". I know she ruined the show when she cut her hair though. Everyone knows that.

Rumors are floating around that NBC may in fact be pulling the plug on "Mockingbird Lane", their "The Munsters" reboot, before the show even gets going. Of course the show's creator, Bryan Fuller, has taken to the tweets to say those rumors are complete BS so all we can do is wait and see. Or we could just ignore the whole thing all together. Let's do that. No one cares about this show anyway to be honest. I'm sorry I brought it up.

Keri Russell, who will always be Felicity to you and your cat, has been confirmed to be taking the lead in Scott Stewart's new film "Dark Skies". The film is about a family who finds they're being terrorized by aliens every night and can't seem to find any help. Maybe the aliens are pissed because she straightened her hair. or cut it or something. Isn't that something people flipped out about back when the show was on? Am I the only one who remembers this? I can't be. Don't judge.

I don't know anyone who's excited about "Dredd", the updated version of the comic book tale we all know and love from the Sylvester Stallone flick, but that isn't stopping writer Alex Garland from making a trilogy out of his tale. That is if the first film makes enough money. It's a bold move, to make a sequel to a film if it does really well, I can't wait to see how this plays out.

I for one am very excited that script writer Dean Devlin is saying hat he's working on a sequel to the 1996 hit "Independence Day". I know I've gone on a few rants about this movie and honestly I don't know where I left off. Let's just go with Vivica A. Fox is really hot and leave it at that.

Philip Seymour Hoffman has officially joined the cast of "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire", the second chapter in the Hunger games trilogy. He'll play Plutarch Heavensbee, the game maker who appears in the 2nd and 3rd book. If you don't know what a game maker is then I don't really want to be your friend.
