Apollo 18

Grab your shaky-cam and all the MRE's you can carry...

Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego's "Apollo 18" has been bumped more times then I can keep track of but right now it's shooting for a September 2nd lift off and today we've got a new trailer for the found footage flick. The movie is set up as real footage of a secret moon landing in 1973 shot by 2 American astronauts. Did you get the "lift off" pun? Pretty clever, huh?

"The Ganzfeld Experiment" has one of the most confusing plot descriptions I've ever tried to read and now Rumer Willis, who has one of the most confusing names I've ever read, has signed on to play in the film along with Dominic Purcell. Alright here goes. 5 college kids go away for the weekend in order to partake in a ESP experiment. During the weekend they uncover their forgotten past, dreams, and their future somehow. Then things go nuts or something. This may or may not be a big rip off of "Flatliners". I have no idea.

Mark Vadik has been confirmed to direct and upcoming and I assume straight to DVD remake of the 1986 Tawny "I can't believe I watched this whole thing and she didn't go topless" Kitaen film "Witchboard". For those of you not familiar with the original it follows a group of party goes who accidentally unleash an evil demon while playing with a Ouija board. Any Tawny Kitaen doesn't get naked in it.

If you haven't been following all the exciting news around "Hellraiser: Revelations" here's a short recap. It's a new direct to DVD "Hellraiser" movie that apparently had such an awful script that Doug Bradley (the original Pinhead) wanted nothing to do with it. Along with that the reviews for the one screening of the film have been nothing but negative. But hey good news now, it's coming out on DVD and Blu-Ray on October 18th so you can see it for yourself. Merry half Christmas.

"Apollo 18", the hey-spooky-things-live-on-the-moon film has been pushed to January 6 of next year. The movie was originally suppose to be released last month and was pushed to April 22nd. Honestly this works out pretty well for me because I already had plans on the 22nd so I say this is a win. Just in case anyone was wondering.

There's been talk of a "Child's Play" remake for some time now but little movement. Well today there's still little movement but word around the campfire is MGM will be pushing this one out of its loins and they're shooting for a 2012 release date. Does it make you uncomfortable when I use the word "loins"? It should.

When the hell was it announced that Sam Rami was doing a "Wizard of Oz" flick? Did I break the news? Let's pretend I did! Anyway Mila Kunis has been cast as Theodora in the movie currently titled "Oz: The Great and Powerful" and from the sounds of things I think she plays a good witch who wants to get freaky with a guy, gets shot down and then goes batty. Witchy woman!

On April 7th the good people over at A&E: Bio Channel will be airing "Scream: The Inside Story", a big ol rub and tug fest about the phenomenon that is Wes Craven's "Scream" franchise. That air date seems pretty close if they want to get my interviews in. I haven't even gotten any calls yet. Weird.

Good news for those of you who hate your childhood memories! There's a remake of both "Firestarter" and "Maximum Overdrive" in the works. The later I am a bit worried about because I heart it so, the first one though I can't wait to see that song by The Prodigy become popular again. No one else remembers it? Get off my lawn!

Who's excited for "Death Race 2"?! What, only Jon and I? You all disappoint me. Anyway here's some new clips and what the kids call a featurette from the hot new flick that surprisingly will not see a theater release.

Shooting for the upcoming space horror flick "Apollo 18" is currently set to begin on December 20th. Which is interesting seeing how the film has a confirmed release date of March 4th. Now I'm not a mathologist but that sounds like a really short time to make a big time movie that's going to be in theaters. I look forward to the DVD release on April 13th though.

Ron Howard checked in with an update on his big and little screen adaptation of Stephen King's "The Dark Tower" series. Apparently he's both excited and violently ill about the opportunity to turn Mr. King's life work into walking pictures. Alright maybe he didn't say violently ill but I can read between the lines.

Here's a new one sheet for the new found footage flick "Apollo 18". The movie is a follow up to the 1996 Academy Award winning film "Apollo 13" staring Tom Hanks. Wait, no? That's not right. Ah whatever just watch the clip.

With Christmas just around the corner it's time to celebrate the holiday season with a horror movie that shows a crazy Santa going around murdering the crap out of people. As luck would have it we have a new red band trailer for "Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale", the Finnish flick that does just that. I feel so warm.

Wait seriously they're making a "Final Destination 5"? That's not a joke. Well at least it isn't going to be in 3D right? Oh god it's going to be in 3D! You build me up with a crazy Santa and then you just cut me right back down with this crap. Well played.

Here's some new screen shots from "The Rite" staring Anthony Hopkins as a Priest who gets involved with an exorcism. When did possession become the big rage? I missed the memo. I can't wait for next Halloween when people just walk around spitting split pea soup at each other.
