killer clowns

The VHS cover alone was enough to give me nightmares, but the movie was pretty darn creepy too. Casey (Nathan Forrest Winters), one of three brothers, has an intense fear of clowns. His older brother Geoffrey (Brian McHugh) mostly sympathizes with Casey's fears, even though he doesn't understand them. Oldest brother Randy (Sam Rockwell) however, constantly makes fun of Casey. After a night at the circus, where Casey runs away from three clowns that approach him, the boys return home to their empty house.

Seriously Indie filmmakers, I admire your pluck in deciding to make an indepednent horror film... but can we please, please get rid of the creepy clown archetype? It's so over.

As we near the release of "The Collector" on Friday (could you tell? ;), here's 2 new clips to give you a little better idea of what you're working with. The film comes from "Saw" IV-VII scribes Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton, and deals with a home invasion where the invader discovers there's a far worse evil awaiting him when he gets there.

Mackenzie Carpenter is your typical 17 year old. She thinks life in the O.C. is boring, tends to sneer at most of the stereotypical O.C. kids and wants nothing more than to rock out and be cool. Her plan comes to a screeching halt when her group of friends start to turn up dead one by one in bloody and gruesome ways. The one key factor to all of the murders is the sighting of one "Horny the Clown", mascot of the local Hellaburger Fast Food chain, fleeing the scene of the crimes.
