Everyone is a bit concerned about the upcoming US remake of "Let the Right One In". Director Matt Reeves says that "Let Me In" will be much darker and scarier than "Twilight".

The John Landis produced "Some Guy Who Kills People" has had a flurry of casting news. Among the list are Kevin Corrigan, Lucy Davis, Barry Bostwick and Karen Black.

Daniel Harris has posted some behind the scenes stills from her next feature, "Stakeland". Directed by Jim Mickle who last helmed "Mulberry St.", a director who has already shown that he knows vampires pretty well.

Actor Sam Tramell who portrays Sam Merlotte on HBO's "True Blood" gives About.com a few tidbits on season 3 of the show.

David Twohy has confirmed what I've known all along, that most "director's cuts" are just extended cuts put together for the sole purpose of the Studio releasing another DVD and making some money off of it. Not sure it makes me happy to be right on this one.

The duo behind "Jack Brooks Monster Slayer" is moving on to a new project called "Shrine". It sounds like your basic "hikers get lost in shady European country" deal, and occult wackiness ensues. The news to me is that they're not working on a "Jack Brooks 2", although based on conversations I've had with Knautz I assume that they've just put that project on the backburner for now. I'll let you guys know when we have confirmation on that.

Robert Englund and Kane Hodder to star in 5 episode web series for FearNET called "Fear Clinic". The story follows a doctor (Englund) using controversial and potentially dangerous methods to help patients overcome their biggest fears. It will debut this October and is being directed by Robert Hall of "Laid To Rest" fame.

Matt Reeves talks about directing the "Let the Right One In" remake. He sounds like a big fan and genuinely into the material, but every director seems to know how to sing the right song when it comes to genre fans these days, so I remain skeptical.

Ain't the internet grand? All it took was a single day, less than 24 hours after Icons of Fright's piece on the botched subtitles on the "Let The Right One in" DVD for Magnolia to issue an apology and attempt to rectify the situation. They will have new discs printed up right away with the "theatrical" subtitles. There will be no exchange available, but the new subtitles will be listed on the special features of the new disc so you can make sure you're getting the "right one". We will let you know when they're on store shelves. For now, if you haven't seen the film, wait!

"Ice Cream Man", the horror flick starring Crispin Glover as the titular "man", is still alive despite some false starts and a lot of time out of the spotlight. That's good news. And when it finally comes out, you can have the mindblowing double bill of this and "I Scream Man" starring Clint Howard. that ought to keep you from sleeping.... forever.

Len Wiseman will produce "Nonstop", about "the passengers of Flight 209 [who are] mysteriously abducted by an Alien ship." Sounds freakin' SWEET. It's being described as a "sci-fi/action/thriller". Don't forget that Wiseman, of "Underworld" fame, also has the "Gears of War" trilogy in the works.

Remember how the acclaimed Swedish vampire film "Let The Right One In" was just released on DVD? Thanks to some sleuthing over at Icons of Fright, it was discovered that the subtitles have been almost criminally changed from the original English subs on the Swedish DVD. The cumulative result, as the writer puts it, could be construed as a "dumbing down" or "watering down" of the subtlety and strange dark humor of the film. At the link, an exhaustive description of the changes including screen caps to illustrate the point.

Producers speak on both remakes of "The Birds" and "Poltergeist". They seem to have a healthy respect for the originals, so I'll at least give these a shot, even if neither one really needs a reboot.

Here's a naughty still from Lars Von Trier's "Antichrist", which is about to make its debut at Cannes. The psychological horror film stars Willem Dafoe and is about a couple who retreat to a cabin in the woods following the death of their child.

Now this is more like it, if you're interested, here's 20 hi-res stills from "Blood: The Last Vampire". Japanese school girls... that is all.

We break down 2008 as we saw it, and wonder aloud what will be thrilling us in 2009.

The crew tackles the heavy task of properly breaking down "Let The Right One In", and Eazy-E drops by with a special Holiday message.
