John Carpenter could seriously do no wrong in the '80's. Grab any film he made in that decade and I can guarantee that you'll at least have a good time watching it, if you don't outright love it. While some of his bigger films like "The Thing" and "Big Trouble in Little China" get the most love from genre fans, I personally have to put one of his lesser known films, "They Live", real close to the top of my list. Why is that? Well, let me count the ways.

This week after a long run of theatrical releases the gang finally gets to stay at home and check out Gareth Edwards' “Monsters”. Despite a decent amount of buzz around this one I still have no idea what it’s about. To be honest even after reading the description I’m still a little clueless. I pray actually watching the movie will resolve this. If not it’s going to be an interesting discussion. Synopsis and trailer after the jump.

A couple new clips from the upcoming alien invasion film that sounds suspiciously like "District 9" have been released today.

When a team of roughnecks staffing a remote Antarctic outpost come into contact with a strange alien life form that infects and mimics the appearance of its host, things begin to quickly spin out of control as no one can be sure of who has been infected and who remains clean. Led by McCready (Kurt Russell), the survivors attempt to cleanse their research station. Suspicions mount though, and between claustrophobia and the brutal elements, options begin to dwindle.

Director Steven Monroe talks details about his upcoming "I Spit On Your Grave" remake. Among his promises is a great performance from lead actress Sarah Butler, more brutality and more lead characters.

Sam Raimi signs on to produce "Alien Invasion". This is news worthy because Raimi's Ghost House Productions signed first time director Fede Alvarez to a multi million dollar deal based on his youtube short "Panic Attack".

Early rumors point to the possibility of Seth Grahame-Smith's "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" becoming a six part TV mini series.
