Horror Headlines: Thursday July 2nd, 2009

Darren Lynn Bousman's remake of "Mother's Day" will begin shooting in August, in Winnipeg, Canada.

In anticipation of the remake this Fall, the original "The Stepfather", starring Terry O'Quinn is being released on DVD for the first time. You can expect the disc on October 13th.

The poster for "Surrogates" lands today, the Bruce Willis scifi/action film about a future where humans interact with each other through surrogate robots. Based on what I've seen so far I'm pretty excited for this one.

Diablo Cody's horror debut "Jennifer's Body", starring Megan Fox, has been rated "R" by the MPAA for "sexuality, bloody violence, language and brief drug use." Wait, no nudity? Damn... so close.

Nimrod Antal (real name), has been tapped to direct "Predators", with Robert Rodriguez producing. Antal directed a film I enjoyed called "Vacancy", although I realize not everyone feels the same way. Any thoughts on this hiring? You know what to do.

In Real People News:

The creepy guy behind the "Body Worlds" exhibits at museums has offered to plastinate Michael Jackson for free. No word on if the family has accepted... but I think we can all agree that it would be the least strange thing to ever happen in Jackson's life.

It may be time to bow down to our ant overlords. Seriously.

On this day in history:

1961: In the tile-covered foyer of his home in Ketchum, Idaho, novelist Ernest Hemingway commits suicide with his favorite shotgun. When the body was later found, "only his chin, mouth, and vestigial scraps of his cheeks were still connected to his body."
