Horror Headlines: Monday December 1st, 2008

Due to my own screwup we weren't able to record episide 52 of the podcast last night as planned. The tentative plan now is to record Tuesday night, but that's not 100% as of yet. For updates you can follow me on Twitter for all the latest up to date information.

Has the success of "Twilight" led to renewed talks for a "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" movie? I'll let the wild speculation begin.

Here's a glimpse at some concept art for the big screen adaptation of Steve Niles' "Wake the Dead". Looking pretty good at this point, and he seems to be 1 for 1 as far as kickass adaptations go, so I'm going to keep an eye on this one.

The producers of the first two are still pulling for another "X-Files" movie, despite the relative failure of the latest one that was released this last summer. They seem confident that DVD sales will convince the studios to make another one. What do you think?

In Real People News:

Police in China shocked when they pull over armless driver. And since this is China, it goes without saying that he lost both arms in an industrial accident.

Schoolboy goes into convulsions after 24 hour World of Warcraft bender. Perhaps there is a certain natural selection aspect to this game we're missing here.

Eye for an eye, literally, in Iran. A man who blinded his wife with acid will be blinded by acid himself as a punishment under Sharia code. I don't know what's more shocking, the punishment or the fact that they're actually avenging something that happened to a woman.

And it wouldn't the the week after Black Friday without a story about some scumbags fighting over toys. This time with twice the handguns! If you picture this whole thing going down like an action movie in bullet time, it becomes infinitely more hilarious.

On this day in history:

1947: Infamous occultist Aleister Crowley, dead in Hastings England, aged 74. He wrote that "for nearly all purposes, human sacrifice is best". Crowley also appears on the cover of Beatles' Sgt. Pepper, and had a heavy influence on a young L. Run Hubbard, who would go on to found the wacky McCookoo pants "religion", scientology.
