Horror Headlines 3/20/08

Entertainment Weekly has some pictures of Benizio Del Toro as "The Wolfman" in Universal's upcoming remake. The makeup, done by FX legend Rick Baker looks... Wolfy. In all seriousness, it's very faithful to the original film (and impossible to tell it's Del Toro). Check it out at the link.

Tiffany Shepis has reportedly shopped a pilot to NBC called "FaceOff", which would be a weekly reality show featuring FX artists in competition with each other. Sounds cool, and at least it's not about that Nic Cage/John Travolta movie... in which case I don't even think Tiffany's booty would be enough to get me to watch.

New pics from "The Strangers"! With the release date being May 30th, you can consider this hype train fully in motion.

Neil marshal has a new project on his plate that may go in front of cameras this summer. It's called "Drive" and the plot goes like this, "a Hollywood stunt driver who moonlights as a getaway car driver in heists. The stuntman's already-exciting existence gets jolted when he discovers that a contract has been put out on his life." This isn't really horror, so I won't be reporting on it, but since it was Marshall and "Doomsday" is in theaters, I figured it was pertinent. Also, you'll recall that another one of his projects he's working on is called "Sacrilege", described as "Unforgiven by way of H.P. Lovecraft". I can tell you which one I'm more excited for, but I figure you can guess yourself.

In Real People News:

This just became the best day EVER. The mayor of the Argentinian town being terrorized by a tiny "Gnome", has launched a full scale investigation into the sightings. And yes, his statement says "Gnome" and not "Drunken Midget". More as it comes in!

Barack Obama thinks OJ did it. Man, just when you think you've got this guy pegged down, he goes and does something like this. I don't know what to think anymore.

A kid may face up to 5 years in jail for grabbing the lunchlady's breast. Really? The lunch-lady? All of the ones at my old school looked like Chris Farley and smelled like day old cigarette smoke. This kid is going to have some weird fetishes when he grows up.

On this day in history:

1995: Members of the Aum cult release Sarin nerve gas in the Tokyo subway. Eleven people die and 5,500 are injured. The cult's doctrine of "Poa" make mass murder the way to save their own souls. They had intended eventually to produce 70 tons of the gas.
