Horror Headlines: Tuesday February 17th, 2009

I give you, the international trailer for "Lesbian Vampire Killers". This one's about a team of comedy writers who take a vacation to the countryside, only to find out that they've chosen a village where all the women have been enslaved by a legendary vampire curse. The ensuing situation forces them to become, you guessed it, "Lesbian Vampire Killers".

Jared Padalecki doesn't really want to return to star in any hypothetical "Friday the 13th Part 2" that may be coming down the line, but he'd love to do a cameo at the beginning and get killed off. Contrary to what I would have thought, it actually has nothing to do with Platinum Dunes not being able to afford his hairspray budget.

Vanessa Hudgens to star in adaptation of comic book "Dead @ 17?" It's just a rumor folks, but before you roll your eyes, the script is being written by "X2's" Mike Doughterty, and concerns "a murdered teenage girl who returns from the grave as a prophesied savior who uses her new abilities to fight evil." As long as there are plenty of iPhones available on set for her to ahem... snap pictures, I would be okay with this.

STFU, a rumor that Natalie Portman is being "circled" to star in "Pride & Prejudice & Zombies"? It's a wacky world we live in folks.

There's also news today that Jon Knautz and crew are officially ready to make "Jack Brooks Monster Slayer 2". Well, it's news in the sense that

Here's a "REC 2" teaser that again (like the last one) doesn't show a whole lot. Anyone who can offer some translations of the title cards though wins a cupcake.

2 year old girl survives 20 minutes at the bottom of a swimming pool, and in the process does something more impressive than David Blane ever has.

Some American Zoos charged extra on Valentine's day to watch animals bang? And they served brunch and champagne? Even more baffling, people seem to have signed up for it without much hesitation.

An Eagle Scout was shot from point blank range yesterday in a West Virginia neighborhood, after helping someone fix a flat tire. Apparently there are no merit badges that would have prepared him for "psycho with a gun shoots the crap out of you".

On this day in history:

1994: The decomposing corpse of Zviad Gamsakhurdia, first president of the Republic of Georgia, is exhumed from a temporary grave in Djikhaskari. His wife refuses an autopsy, but western journalists note a bullet wound in the side of Zviad's head. Officially listed as suicide, the wife also claims he was murdered. Another government minister oddly states the death was by cancer with the head shot administered post-mortem.
