BGH Staff Picks Top 25 Horror Films of the Decade Part 2

Today we hear from Casey and John, with another pair of top and bottom 5's from the last 10 years. Some familiar titles strengthen their case for the BGH Staff Top 25, while a couple new contenders enter the fray:

Kicking Off BGH's Top 25 Horror Films of the 00's

Here at Bloody Good Horror we believe that the last 10 years have been pretty outstanding when it comes to horror. Yes, we've been blessed, and to commemorate the decade that was, the nine contributors here at BGH have each compiled a list of their 25 favorite films and five least favorite films from the last ten years.

9 Ted Raimi Cameos

The Raimi name is synonymous of horror of course, but that is in large part because of Sam. He's a big name these days in director circles. There's another Raimi out there though that has plugged his face into many a background scene; that would be Sam's brother, Ted.

Most thunderstorms are scary. They're even scarier when every time it storms, some fat kid climbs out of your basement in a mask and hacks up your family, such as in the tale of Basement Jack.

(Or at least as a nice little disturbing sub plot at the very least.)

8 Hammer Films To Die For

If you haven't guessed by now, I love a horror movie with atmosphere. When a movie can suck you in and feel unique, that's the sign of a great movie. Luckily for me, throughout the 50's, 60's and 70's, Hammer Studios managed to put out a slew of horror films that fit this bill perfectly. Many of you may be familiar with these films but many, especially here in the States, may not.

Okay, follow along here....Beast Within is also known as "Virus Undead". It was shot in Germany with a full German crew and cast. However, it was shot in English because it was cheaper. Oh, and the director's name is Wolf Wolff. Other than that, there is just not a whole lot available on this movie aside from German Zombies.

10 90's Films You May Have Missed

Ah, the 90's. For many of us, this was a time of growth. That passage from adolescence to adulthood; an era for coming of age. Such as it was for the horror film genre as well. In these days we were on the tail in of the 80's camp explosion, on the doorstep of movies such as "Scream" that would turn horror films into highly polished nods to a brighter age gone by.
