Richard Kelly's "The Box" Finally Gets A Trailer

Pop Quiz! You’re significant other just got shit canned from their job and you are now faced with having to figure out how to pay bills that you already can’t afford. A guy shows up at your door with a wooden box that contains a button. If you push that button you’ll be given one millions dollars but someone you’ve never met somewhere will die. Would you push the button? Of course you would, I’d slam that thing before he even showed me the money. Done, movie over.

Horror Headlines: Thursday June 25th, 2009

Zac Efron has signed on to do a thriller for Mandate Pictuers, from the writer who brought you "Hairspray". You know what, that's just too easy.

The "Sorority Row" remake gets moved up, from October 2nd to September 11th.

The trailer for Richard Kelly's "The Box" has finally landed. This actually looks really solid considering it's been pushed back so many times. But opening opposite "Saw"? Really? Sort of sounds like giving it an excuse to fail to me.

In Real People News:

Bumfight erupts over a conversation on quantum physics. Why homeless men were debating the splitting of atoms... your guess is as good as mine. What I do know is the weapon of choice was a skateboard, which makes the story even wackier.

Even if you believe this odd piece of Chinese folklore stating that drinking soup made from a man's brain would cure mental illness, do you really think the ideal brain would be that of a drunk 75 year old? Let's set our sights a little higher here, people.

On this day in history:

1876: Custer's last stand. After being tricked into thinking his Indian adversaries were retreating during the Battle of Little Bighorn, Custer and his 210 men were ambushed, with all losing their lives. He was found two days later almost entirely naked, with an arrow through his penis.

"Zombieland" Trailer Is The Shit

The trailer for Woody Harrelson's epic zombie romp "Zombieland" hit the web tonight. Sure it looks a lot like "Shaun of the Dead 2", but I can't lie, I'm totally sold on this hot mess. Leave that feedback in the comments, friends.

"Whiteout" Trailer

The trailer for the new Kate Beckinsale film “Whiteout” has finally hit the web and from the looks of things is shaping up to be pretty enjoyable. The basic story revolves around a U.S. Marshal played by Beckinsale who is sent to track a killer in the most remote part of Antarctica. Only problem is the sun is about to set for six months and the weather conditions are about the worst you could imagine.

"The Stepfather" Trailer Debut

The trailer for the remake of "The Stepfather" is now online! While it looks like fairly standard thriller fare, Dylan Walsh looks to make good use of his crazy step-dad role! What do you guys think?

"The Stepfather" is expected in theater's October 16th, 2009.

"Imago Mortis" Trailer

Produced by the snappy individuals responsible for both "The Orphange" and "Pan's Labyrinth," Stefano Bessoni's upcoming horror/thriller "Imago Mortis" is shaping up to be the sort of picture I'd like to see. What's more, it's scripted by one of the fine fellows behind Jaume Balaguero's outstanding "[Rec]," which is, of course, grossly superior to its US counterpart. Unfortunately, the trailer currently making the rounds for "Imago Mortis" isn't in English, but the imagery alone is enough to get the blood pumping.

Here's the synopsis from IMDb:

Zombie Mormons In "The Book Of Zombie"

It dawned on me today what that HBO show “Big Love” is missing: Zombies! I had this revelation while watching the trailer for the film “The Book Of Zombie”. Get it? Revelation? Nevermind.

Sex Dolls Gone Wild In "Air Doll"

So here’s a good story. A guy goes out and buys a sex doll. He takes it home and blows it up and then enjoys a romantic evening with it. Next day while this guys off to work the sex doll comes to life, goes out into the world and finds love and a job at a video store. Are you getting excited yet? Sicko.

Martin Scorsese's "Shutter Island" Trailer

It’s been a while since Martin Scorsese has scared the shit out of us. “Cape Fear” came out over 15 years ago but it looks like he has done it again with “Shutter Island”. Based on Dennis Lehane's novel, the thriller staring Leonardo DiCaprio had it’s trailer hit the web yesterday and from the looks of things it’s going to be pretty kick ass.

"I Sell The Dead" Trailer

Right after filming on “Hellboy 2” finished, Ron Perlman headed of to the set of “I Sell The Dead”. This past weekend I got a chance to see the trailer for “I Sell The Dead” and hear writer/director Glenn McQuaid give some background on the film. According to McQuaid, Perlman spent the weeks sleeping on the floor using a sound blanket as a bed, until they needed the blanket that is. From the looks of things, Perlman’s suffering was well forth it
