Snapshot: "Dead Shadows" (2012)

"Dead Shadows" is a french film about a teen named Chris whose parents were brutally killed 11 years ago, on a day that Haley's comet could be seen from Earth. Now there's a new comet making an appearance and of course, as any good 80's throwback film would have it, the Earthlings are partying it up. But then Chris notices that people are starting to act weird and violent. Uh-oh.

Producer/Director David Cholewa says he was looking to :

Snapshot: "American Horror Story" (TV Series)

A new haunted house drama premiered Wednesday night on FX that was created and produced by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, the creators of "Glee". The series centers around the Harmon family, who move from Boston to Los Angeles after Ben (Dylan McDermott) has an affair. They get a great deal on an old mansion, finding out once they buy the home that the previous owners were involved in a murder suicide and that the house is haunted. I'm assuming this is where all that weird fetish imagery that they've been promoting in the trailers happens?

Snapshot: "Julia's Eyes" (2010)

Belen Rueda ("The Orphanage") stars as twin sisters Julia and Sara in the upcoming release from Spanish director Guillem Morales, "Julia's Eyes". Guillermo Del Toro's produced the film, which has definitely helped it create quite a buzz in early reviews. The film centers around Julia, who is trying to deal with her sister's apparent suicide while also dealing with her impending blindness due to a degenerative illness. IFC Films will be distributing the movie in the US via limited theatrical release later this month and then releasing it on VOD shortly after. Check out the trailer below:

Snapshot: "Intruders" (2011)

Clive Owen stars in a supernatural horror film that tells the parallel stories of families whose lives are disrupted by supernatural forces. The first story takes place in Spain, where a mother tries to protect her son from a faceless ghost. The second story takes place in Britain, dealing with a young girl who has terrifying dreams of a demon who is beginning to manifest itself to her and her family.

Snapshot: "Cabin in the Woods" (2011)

Plot details have been kept pretty mum on the highly anticipated horror spoof "Cabin in the Woods," so all that we really know is that the movie pokes fun at the typical stranded in the woods type of horror flick and that it stars Chris Hemsworth, Richard Jenkins, Bradley Whitford, Jesse Williams, Fran Kranz, Kristen Connolly, Anna Hutchison and Amy Acker. Co-written by Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard and directed by Goddard, the film was put on hold due to MGM's money issues, but has now been picked back up by Lionsgate and set for an April 13, 2012 release date.

Snapshot: "Vamps" (2011)

In the above snapshot from the upcoming "Vamps", Alicia Silverstone and Krysten Ritter star as two modern day vampires whose immortality is threatened when love enters the picture. This is coming to us from writer and director Amy Heckerling ("Fast Times at Ridgemont High", "Clueless"), so if her past movies and fun star-studded cast (Sigourney Weaver, Wallace Shawn, Malcom McDowell) are any indicators, this is hopefully going to be a fun little horror comedy.

Snapshot: "Fright Night" (2011)

Craig Gillespie's "Fright Night" remake of the 1985 classic is upon us and some new stills have been released! The above snapshot features David Tennant playing Mr. Peter Vincent getting ready to fight vampires. Here's the synopsis from the OFFICIAL FRIGHT NIGHT SITE and it sounds pretty true to the original. Color me somewhat excited:

Senior Charley Brewster (Anton Yelchin) finally has it all—he's running with the popular crowd and dating the hottest girl in high school.

Snapshot: "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" (2011)

In the above snapshot, young Sally Hirst (Bailee Madison) moves in with her father and his girlfriend only to discover that she is being pursued by monsters who want to claim her as one of their own. A remake of the 1973 made for TV movie of the same name, Guy Pearce stars as Alex Hirst, an author who becomes increasingly frustrated with his daughter's claims of seeing monsters, even when his girlfriend (Katie Holmes) begins seeing them as well. The film is set for a theatrical release August 26, 2011 and is rated R.

Snapshot: "Choose" (2011)

"Choose" opens with a scene in which a serial killer forces a young girl to choose between which one of her parents to kill. The rest of the film follows journalism student Fiona who becomes interested in the serial killer case that her dad, Sheriff Wagner (Kevin Pollak) is investigating. In a Saw-like twist, the killer in this movie forces its victims to choose between the things they consider most important to them, as we see in the opening scene. When Fiona is contacted by the killer she begins to suspect that her mother's suicide may not have been her choice.

Snapshot: "Dream House" (2011)

There doesn't seem to be too much information available regarding the plot details of director Jim Sheridan's "Dream House", but what I've come across has definitely sparked my interest. In the above snapshot, Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz play a couple who move from New York City to a small New England suburb and find that their new home was the site of a brutal murder. As Daniel Craig investigates the tragedy with his neighbor (Naomi Watts) he soon discovers that his family could be the killers next target. "Dream House" is set to hit theaters September 30, 2011.
