Horror Headlines: Monday February 21st, 2011

"Dead Island", the soon to be released open world video game that's super hot right now, has already had it's screen rights scooped up and the word around campus is a movie is inevitable. I'm sure by next month a sequel will already be announced and a hot new clothing line will be in stores. Can't wait.

Stephen Kay is the fella who brought you "Boogyman" and the "The Craigslist Killer" TV movie has a new flick coming out called "Isolation" and it's got a new trailer for your peepers. The clip features a hospital, some medical advice I'm fairly sure is inaccurate and a girl who looks like the girl from "Big Bang Theory". This all sounds like the perfect storm of awful.

If you had to name the most perfect cast ever imagined what would it be? WRONG! The correct answer is Kobe Bryant, Danny Trejo, Bruce Willis and Kanye West. Luckily for the world these guys are all in the new Robert Rodriguez short film titled "The Black Mamba". You're welcome, world.

"Errors of the Human Body" is the title of my video montage features photos of me from High School and also a new thriller about a scientist who does some creepy crap with fish or something. A bunch of new stills and poster for the flick has hit the nets and I don't know what to think. Please tell me.

In Real People News:

Let this be a lessen to you fellas. Never dare your girlfriend to shoot you in the face, because there's a 95% chance she will. This woman in Florida did it and your wife or girlfriend will too. I promise you that. Deep down inside I have no doubt that she absolutely hates the look of your face.

Is it really considered a dine n dash if you leave behind your 12 year old daughter? I mean it was Bonefish Grill so I assume the bill was a little steep, fish aint cheap, people! Maybe she got an appetizer and should have left a second child or something. I don't know. All this crap seems to happen in Florida though.

This week we debate the finer points of how to best pronounce "Machete", and the possible attractiveness of a certain fiery Latina.

Trailer: Unrated "Hobo With a Shotgun" Teaser

With "Machete" finally seeing a release today and all the Grindhouse mania swinging into high gear it's time to take a look at the next fake trailer to make its way into full feature length film land. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls I submit for your approval, "Hobo With a Shotgun".

Video: Boat Load of New Clips From "Machete"

A ridiculous amount of clips from "Machete" have found their way online and they're pretty much what you would expect. Lots of blood, lots of strippers and some serious bad acting. I mean all three of those things in the best way possible. Check them out below and look for "Machete" this Friday in theaters.

Episode 126 - "Predators"

Horror Headlines: Thursday July 8th, 2010

"Repo: The Genetic Opera" is coming to The Wings Theatre in NYC this Saturday July 10th. Between this, the heat wave and the inevitable LeBron James rejection that's coming I thank god I'm getting out of the area this weekend. I predict riots in the streets before the second chorus of whatever god awful song opens up that thing.

In preparation for tomorrows release of "Predators" Robert Rodriguez and Nimrod Antal sat down to discuss the filming process and why someone would name their child Nimrod. That second part was cut from the interview I think. Look for it on the Blu-Ray special features though!

A trailer for the new season of the VH1 show "Scream Queens" is online and to be honest is a little disappointing. The contestants will once again compete for a role in the next "Saw" film but no James Gunn this season and from what I can tell no ridiculously over sized fakes breasts. Really I could have let the James Gunn thing go but I'm not sure if I can get past the other.

Hot news for everyone heading out to Comic-Con. The cast of "Dexter" will be doing a panel discussion as well as premiering a new trailer for season 5 which hits Showtime on September 26. There's also going to be a lot of attractive women dressed up in skimpy superhero outfits. But you're probably more excited about the "Dexter" thing. Nerds.

In Real People News:

Sometimes you just have to stand up for what you believe in. Like this guy out in Georgia who held his mother hostage because she refused to iron his cloths. Good for you buddy, don't back down.

A truck in Rome carrying 2.5 million euros overturned on the highway recently and motorists scooped up the prize. Sounds impressive until you realize 2.5 million euros equals roughly 13 U.S. dollars.

1776 - Col. John Nixon gave the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence to a crowd gathered at Independence Square in Philadelphia.

Trailer: "Machete" Will Blow Your Mind

I do not have any freakin clue what "Machete" is about but I'm not sure that really matters. From what I can tell Danny Trejo plays a guy who is "double crossed" and then starts cutting people up. Then Cheech Marin, who plays a priest, mind you, decides he wants to help so he blows up some cars. Then Jessica Alba comes out and does some really bad acting. Then Lindsay Lohan dresses up like a nun and shoots people in the face. Oh and Steven Seagal and Don Johnson are there too. I'm sure I'm forgetting something but it doesn't really matter.

Horror Headlines: Wednesday April 21st, 2010

TBS has made a lot of waves lately with their recent Conan O'Brian announcement, but that's not the only news the soon to be major cable player has up its sleeve. In June, they will be bringing us a bit of animated horror comedy with their newly announced series "Neighbors from Hell". Think your neighbors are bad? They can't be as bad as the Hellmans, hailing straight from the netherworld. Hellmans... get it?

The promotions for the Robert Rodriguez sequel "Predators" continues to ramp up with new shots and character profiles. The latest character profile is on Isabella, played by Michelle Rodriguez.

The first high res shots of Josh Brolin as "Jonah Hex" have appeared online. Looking true to character, I still think the movie would be more exciting if we didn't have to mention it also starred Megan Fox.

In Real People News:

Justin.tv makes the news this week as a 19 year old San Francisco male broadcasts his suicide to hundreds of spectators. Feeling guilty for egging him on, the forum moderator where the 19 year old left his suicide note called the local authorities as the viewers watched the police break in on camera to recover the body.

Lake Tahoe police feared a terrorist event when they caught a 60 year old man parked in a no parking zone. During their investigation, they found a wire with an attached on/off switch in his pocket leading to his anal cavity. It turns out, the wire just lead to the man's vibrating butt plug.

Horror Headlines: Monday April 19th, 2010

This just in from the odd marketing department, Bloody Disgusting will be hosting the world premiere of Andrew Howard's "Pig" on their website tonight at 6pm PST. In an effort to encourage everyone to download, burn and pass the film around to their friends, the film makers have made a catchy retro DVD cover for you to print out and use as well.

Been waiting to chop into "Machete"? Good news for you then. The official release date for the Robert Rodriguez directed and Danny Trejo starring grindhouse throwback "Machete" has been set for September 3rd, 2010.

Interesting news for horror comics fans as DC announces an "X-Files" and "30 Days of Night" cross over event. As nice as the feral acting vamps were in the far north, I still don't think they stand a chance against the likes of Mulder and Scully!

In Real People News:

Human sacrifice? Yup, still happening. Indian officials have found the headless torso of a 25 year old male in front of the temple of Goddess Kali.

There is lots of disgusting organisms in the ocean. A recent consensus performed by a joint task force of US and Netherland scientists have discovered that there are many new life forms we were never aware of. Included in these findings was a large microbial mat made up of thousands of living micro-organisms. On it's own, this doesn't sound so bad. When the mat of living critters is the size of Greece? That's a little frightening.

1910 - Halley's comet reappears, last seen in 1835. The Earth passes safely through the comet's tail with no perceptible effect, not counting the death of Mark Twain.

Rumors abound this weekend that Joaquin Phoenix may be shedding his homeless side job to portray Edgar Allen Poe in "The Beautiful Cigar Girl".

Director Matt Reeves spoke with MTV giving details on "Cloverfield 2". In true MTV journalistic fashion, these details boil down to 'yah sure, we might do a sequel some day!'.
