The Trailers of TIFF (part two)

Sexykiller
Spain

From the trailer, Sexykiller looks like Sam Raimi and Pedro Almodovar had a baby and let John Waters raise it. The story follows a fashionista medical student who moonlights as a serial killer. Zombies are involved. Looks like a lot of fun.

The Trailers of TIFF (part one)

The Toronto International Film Fest has become possibly the most genre-friendly major film festival, with many major international genre movies getting their North American debut. Last year at TIFF North American audiences got their first look at Inside, Frontiers and Takeski Miike's latest, Sukiyaki Western Django.

This year there's an equally strong international genre presence at TIFF. Here's a few film that might be worth a blip on your radar.

Martyrs

True Blood 1.01 "Strange Love"

Hi everybody and welcome to the BGH True Blood blog. You might have noticed we're beefing up our TV coverage here at BGH and I'll be with you for the next 12 weeks as we have a look at HBO's new vampire show. Before we take off, I should probably check my baggage to give you an idea of where I'm coming from.

Final Girl Film Club: The Food of the Gods

This is another entry in the always exciting Final Girl Film Club. Click the link to see what all the other cuckoo nutsos are saying.

Is a Teen Wolf Remake in the Works?

No, not that I know of.

There is this really funny video, though. More of a remix than a remake. This is a good opportunity for us all to take a moment to remember those crippled by werewolves throwing bowling balls with their superhuman strength.

Punisher: War Zone Might Not Suck

The Punisher is not exactly the greatest character in the Marvel catalog. He doesn't have any powers or cool gadgets, he doesn't have much of a rogue's gallery because he kills everybody he goes up against and his backstory is identical to the plot to every Steven Seagal movie ever. About all he's got going for him is a cool shirt.

The World of Pirate DVDs

Over the last few years I've had the chance to travel to a few places around the world and in some countries I've encountered a horror far beyond anything in the movies we talk about on this site. It's a act so vile, so unspeakably foul that it could deprive an underprivileged studio executive of the basic human right of driving a Bentley. I speak, of course, of pirated DVDs. Let this be a warning to you all.

What I did on my Summer Vacation

Hola my Bloody Good friends. It's been a while since I last showed up here and I thought I'd check in with you all and let you know what I've been up to. I've been (and still am) in Amman, Jordan for the last month, teaching English to all the little freedom-haters here. Unfortunately, here in the desert the internet is scarce and I usually only have enough to check my email and maybe look at the front page of BGH before it dries up and I have to send little Ahmad down the hill to fetch another jugful of internet.

Final Girl Film Club: Lifeforce

This is Bloody Good Horror's first venture into the Final Girl Film Club. Spoilers abound.

Patton Oswalt: Death Bed

If you only know Patton Oswalt from his stint on King of Queens or as the voice of Remy from Ratatouille, you should do yourself a favor and check out some of his stand-up. On his most recent comedy album Werewolves and Lollypops he talks about how his job as a screenwriter in Hollywood got harder with the DVD release of an obscure 70's horror film called Death Bed: The Bed That Eats.
