"Colin" Trailer is Fancy on a Budget

As over-saturated as we are with zombie movies at times, there are always new angles to hit on. Zombies are rich with subtext and writers and directors keep finding different facets to highlight. The British nano-budget film "Colin" looks like a great example. The film was the talk of Cannes, has gotten positive reviews in the US and UK, and talks are in progress for US and Japanese distribution. From the press release:

Clive Barker's "Book of Blood" trailer

First published in the US in 1984, the frame story for Clive Barker's Books of Blood has finally been filmed as, simply, "Book of Blood", with Barker producing and John Harrison adapting and directing. The North American premiere is at the Montreal Fantasia film festival on July 13th, 2009, with a DVD and Blu-Ray street date of September 29th.

The story revolves around a paranormal researcher hiring a supposed psychic to investigate a haunted house. The dead actually do begin to communicate with the psychic... but they do more than just talk.

Trailer for "Pornography: A Thriller"

From the trailer and everything I've read, "Pornography: A Thriller" looks to be an excellent, mindbending horror film debut. It's currently making festival rounds with writer/director David Kittredge (this is his feature length debut) and the film's producer, Sean Abley (an industry vet who blogs for Fangoria) at many of the screenings. The trailer is below, and the official site is here.

Trailer for French Zombie Film "La Horde"

I'm all for genre-mixing - not everyone's on a hot date or exploring a savage island when the zombies invade. This French "gangsters vs police vs zombies" film called "La Horde" looks like a great example.

Diablo Cody interviews Tom Holland?

Diablo Cody, writer of the upcoming "Jennifer's Body", spoke to genre vet Tom Holland at her Mondo Diablo film festival last year after a screening of his first film "Fright Night". I'm a big fan of Holland's work (thanks, free HBO and ill-spent youth) and the insights here are interesting. He talks about the inspirations behind the film, the advantage of getting an effects crew that had just come off of Ghostbusters, and how the film is a love letter to the classic horror he watched as a kid. Plus he answers some sexy questions from the audience!

Let's hope some Tom Holland horror magic rubbed off on Cody.
