Dead Island Novel announced

Bantam has announced it will publish the official novelisation of Dead Island, a zombie action game from Techland and Deep Silver. Currently slated for a UK only release on September 8, 2011, in paperback form with a price tag of £6.99 (About $9.50). I'm sure we'll be hearing news of an international release soon.

Trailer: Knights of Badassdom

If you weren't one of the lucky ones that were able to attend Comic Con this year, you had to live vicariously through the internet footage like I did. Hopefully, you didn't miss the trailer of a new horror comedy that shows what I've been saying for years: Geeks kick ass.

Freddy Krueger announced as a downloadable fighter in Mortal Kombat!

Yes, I'm back with another hybrid of horror and nerd-ism! And this one made me cream my jeans!

If you're like me, and had been putting off buying the latest Mortal Kombat, you may want to go get your wallet: Freddy Krueger has been announced a downloadable fighter - and he has some of the best fatalities I've seen. This is awesome. Rumor has it, that if enough sales are generated from this, they'll look into adding more playable horror characters.

Trailer: "ANNOTATED"

I love a good indie film. And I love black & white films with a creepy atmosphere. So when my friend Joe Lopez showed me this teaser, I was intrigued.

“Annotated”, a short film of Lovecraftian horror adapted from an original story, is the first film by a dedicated collection of first-time film makers. Calling themselves “the TerrorScribe Mafia,” the group is made up of writer/director Joe Lopez, cinematographer Keith Bates, makeup effects artist Tammy Dupal and producer Stacia Langenheder. It's is also an official selection of the 2011

Re-Animator: The Musical!

Back in 1985, Stuart Gordon created a film that was to become a cult favorite: Re-animator. The film is based on H.P Lovecraft's writings, & chronicled the demented scientist, Herbert West, as he developed a serum that would bring anything dead back to life.

Retro Poster: Firestarter

Being woken up by the fire department telling me my neighbor's house is on fire is always a great way to start a morning. As my neighbors and I stood in the rain, watching some very sexy fire men run.... oops, sorry - different story. But as we stood around speculating what could have started the fire, I couldn't help but think of this movie.

Own the Halloween House for the low low price of 1.4 million!

If you've got some change burning a hole in your piggy bank, or you're looking for a house guaranteed to one up that asshole friend of yours that has everything, you're in luck - the iconic house seen in John Carpenter's Halloween is up for sale. It was also used in Father of the Bride, but that's just not as impressive or cool.

Rob Zombie: Movie Director, Musician....Woollite Salesman?

When you think laundry detergents, you tend to think of a certain snuggly bear or happy moms fighting grass stains - not Rob Zombie. And while I'm not entirely clear on WHY he did this, I can certainly say I love it.

John Carpenter shoots video for 'They Live' Screening

The Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, Texas is hosting a screening of the cult favorite "They Live" on Thursday June 9th, and will be showing a special treat from John Carpenter himself: a video in which he reflects on 'They Live', and its prescience with regards to a media-saturated culture. He also unveils Shepard Fairey's Mondo 'They Live' artwork. You may be familiar with Fairey's previous artwork, which includes the iconic "Obey" street art seen above and the "Hope" Obama poster. Fairey had a lot to say about the influence They Live had on his artwork:

The horror world received news that the 4th entry in the Wrong Turn series will be available on October 18th, 2011. Like parts 2 & 3, the latest offering will be a direct to DVD release as well.
