DVD Date and Trailer for "Timecrimes"

"Timecrimes", or "Los Cronocrímenes" as it's known it its native Spain, has been garnering a ton of buzz while it has hit the festival circuit over the last year. Here's some info on the upcoming DVD release, for those who have been waiting patiently to see it.

The disc will be released at the end of this month, March 31st from Magnolia releasing. Here's the plot from the release, and in case you haven't seen it, check out the trailer below that.

Interactive Killzone Interview

2 weeks ago I posted about my love of all things "Killzone", the Playstation exclusive first-person-shooter series. Today I saw this very cool video pop up on MSNBC, where they're essentially interviewing one of the "Killzone 2" developers during online matchplay. In other words, the developer answers questions whilst putting caps in Helghast asses.

Mr. Kaufman Goes To Washington

Lloyd Kaufman, founder of Troma studios and director of such seminal classics as "The Toxic Avenger" and "Poultrygeist", has long been a supporter of the internet, and even the downloading of his own films. The way he sees it, his company is often "blacklisted" (his words) from major chain stores because of their controversial films, so if a kid in Illinois finds out about Troma by downloading his latest picture, that's ultimately a win in his eyes.

Surveillance Theatrical Trailer

Let's face it... having a parent that excels at a certain field doesn't automatically mean that you're going to. If that were true, I'd be the most kick-ass insurance salesmen in South Florida.

With Jennifer Lynch, daughter of wildman David Lynch, the jury still seems to be out. Her previous directing credits include the 3.9 rated on IMDB "Boxing Helena" in 1993, one episode of "Joe Bob's Drive-in Theater" (!!!) in 1995, and this film, "Surveillance".

House of Fears Trailer

I'm a little late to the game on this Indie film, but what I'm seeing in this trailer makes it look promising. Of course, it appears as if it sat on a shelf for the entirety of 2008, with no DVD release date set yet for 2009, so who knows what's going on with the distribution. It has been playing the festival circuit, and from what I can see has gotten some positive response. Here's the synopsis:

Horror Hound Weekend Movie Schedule

Coming up later this month, the Bloody Good Horror Podcast will be attending Horror Hound Weekend in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Blood: The Last Vampire Trailer

Okay, so after seeing this trailer I think I finally understand the excitement behind "Blood: The Last Vampire". It comes to you from director Chris Nahon, who I see currently has a script out for a "Skate or Die" movie, which may actually make him my personal hero.

"Blood The Last Vampire" is based on the Anime film of the same name from 2000, and the story goes like this:

Mega Shark Vs Giant Octopus

Clearly, the crazy bastards over at The Asylum have shrewdly honed a formula guaranteed to get me to post about their films. It goes a little something like this:

Lorenzo Lamas and Deborah Gibson star in 'Mega Shark versus Giant Octopus'

Aussie Indie: Damned By Dawn

Here's a little Australian Indie called "Damned By Dawn", and although the title's a little too "on the nose" with the "Evil Dead" homage, I enjoyed this trailer. Perhaps too much CGI for my personal tastes, but these guy seem to have spent a ton of time building the atmosphere here, and that's something that too many filmmakers overlook these days. The official synopsis reads like this:

During a violent thunderstorm, a faily is awoken by piercing shrieks which summon the dead to rise again.

Garris Nails it on Remakes

Before a recent screening of "Parasomnia", Mick Garris, Wes Craven and Tobe Hooper were all asked about remakes, and their opinions on the subjects. I think we all know how Craven and Hooper feel, but it's Garris' words that really stuck with me. He perfectly sums up the issue with some remakes. Here's what he said:
