Podcast Classics Revisited - Episode 66: "The Last House on the Left"

This week, myself and the rest of the Podcast crew are heading out to theaters to catch Jennifer Lawrence's new jam, "The House at the End of the Street". Now, I realize that you're sitting there at your desk now, wondering "Why the hell is Casey telling us this in a post about "The Last House on the Left"; be honest, the reason is stupid at best but here it is:

1951 Down Place Episode 12 "Twins of Evil"

It's the end of the month, that means it's time for an all new 1951 Down Place!

This is a good one! In this episode, we're digging into the film that is #5 on my top 5, labeled as one of Derek's favorite Cushing roles AND... the first film to have CHANGED Scott's top 5! That's right...."Twins of Evil"! *insert dramatic Hammer fanfare here*

This one's a classic. The movie that is. This episode's pretty darn good, but classic's getting a little ahead of ourselves!

1951 Down Place Episode 9: The Old Dark House

It's the end of the month, that means it's time to visit 1951 Down Place!

This month, Scott, Derek and I wade into new Hammer territory for us; a horror comedy!

1951 Down Place Episode 8: "The Quatermass Xperiment"

"There is no room for personal feelings in Science!" Or so Prof. Quatermass would have you believe in 1955's "Quatermass Xperiment"! This here's a classic folks, so be sure to join Scott, Derek and myself over at 1951 Down Place as we delve deep into this sci-fi staple!

Trailers: Check out Tim Burton's "Dark Shadows"!

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, get your hate machine's running! It's time to comment on the trailer for Tim Burton's "Dark Shadows"!

It's creepy and it's kooky, and all together spooky, it's A..."Dark Shadows" movie. Not what I was expecting from the project at all. But I must admit; I kind of like this trailer. It could be entertaining, but if Tim Burton thinks this is the essence of the original show... he's high.

Oh yah, I'm biased; I love me some Helena Bonham Carter and I think she looks great in orange. I'm just going to get that out of the way here and now.

The Woman in Black is the highest grossing British horror film in 20 years

Hammer's "The Woman in Black" continues to chug along as in the UK, the film grossed nearly $24 million making the film the highest grossing horror flick to come out of Britain in nearly 20 years! In total, the film has crossed the $50 million mark making Radcliff's first post "Harry Potter" roll a pretty big success.

1951 Down Place Episode 6 gets racy with The Vampire Lovers

It's the end of the month, that means it's time for another dose of Hammer nerdery over at 1951 Down Place!

Nic Cage; pretty sure he's not a vampire.

For those of you wondering if Nic Cage was a vampire due to the pictures of his Civil War era lookalike, you can breathe easy now. The actor has publicly decreed that he's not a vampire. Well...sort of. He doesn't sound entirely sure.

This Simon Oakes interview proves that the new Hammer is swinging for the fences

In a recent interview with Digital Spy, Hammer exec Simon Oakes talks briefly of what is in store for the new Hammer films. While there are no real details to speak of, it's pretty exciting to see that the studio has quite a few projects in the works.
