Friday Fun: Plants Vs. Zombies

We all know and love Pop Cap Games. Makers of small, quirky, and addictive casual games, most of us have fallen victim to their charms at some point. Now, they dip their toe into the horror pool and as you could guess, it's addictive as all hell!

Christopher Lee Returns to Hammer!

Just announced yesterday, Christopher Lee will be returning to Hammer Studios to star along side Hillary Swank and Jeffery Dean Morgan in The Resident.

When a young doctor suspects she may not be alone in her new Brooklyn loft, she learns that her landlord has formed a frightening obsession with her.

Who's with me in hoping Lee is the creepy landlord? I mean, it only makes sense, right?

Hammer Horrors: "Twins of Evil"

Orphaned twins Freida and Mariah, are en route to their uncle Gustav Weil’s (Peter Cushing!) homestead. What they don’t know of their uncle Gustav, is that he is the head of The Brotherhood, a group of vigilante witch burners scouring evil from the surrounding lands. Once they arrive they are subjected to Uncle Gustav’s tyrannical rule, leading to Freida’s late night scheming to rid herself of her oppressive Uncle. Sneaking out to visit Count Karnstein (Damien Thomas) we learn that one sister has an evil side, as the other remains pure.

After Dark After Thoughts

After Dark III is now come and gone and despite the festival's subtitle "8 Films to Die For", I've somehow lived to tell the tale. Three years running and in my own humble opinion, this was the best year yet.

Hammer Horrors: Frankenstein Created Woman

In the spirit of Eric taking a stroll down nostalgia lane with his 'Re-Education' series, I've decided to take a walk myself. I've been a long time lover of Hammer Studios, the UK's home of horror throughout the 50's, 60's and 70's. With their age and unique flavor of horror, I figured it was a good opportunity to share something that not so many horror fans are familiar with these days.

To kick things off, I give you Peter Cushing in Frankenstein Created Woman.

Warner Bros. Launches Red2Blu Program

In the early days of the High Def format wars, Warner Bros aligned themselves with the now defunct HD-DVD brand and started pumping out disks. Months later as the dust settled, they were forced to concede to the power house of Blu-ray.

For Warner, this wasn't a big deal. They've already stopped production, and probably made some money in the process. For us, the viewers at home however were more or less out of luck.

Blu-ray Players to Hit $99?

If you're like me, you've been waiting for that magical moment to jump on the Blu-ray bandwagon when prices dip below the mythical $150 price. Since they've won the format war, there has been no sign of the player prices dropping save for a few sparse Holiday sales last year. Well, according to Bl-ray.com however, the days of $99 players will soon be upon us thanks to the format finally being introduced to China.
