New Trailer for Hammer Films' "Wake Wood" released

Newly revitalized production company Hammer Films are at it again, this time releasing a new film in the UK called "Wake Wood." In an attempt to deal with the grief of losing their only child Alice, who was killed by a vicious dog attack, veterinarian Patrick and his wife Louise move to the remote country village of Wake Wood. Of course, things don't go as planned:

New Trailer for "Drive Angry 3D" released

Nicholas Cage in 3D?! You don't need to tell me anything else, I'm already sold. But for those of you who may need a little bit more persuading, here is the plot description from the DRIVE ANGRY 3D Official Site: In the high-octane, 3D action-adventure "Drive Angry 3D", Nicolas Cage stars as Milton, a hardened felon who has broken out of hell intent on finding the vicious cult who brutally murdered his daughter and kidnapped her baby.

Snapshot: "Detention" (2011)

Yep. That's Dane Cook. With blood on him. He stars along with Josh Hutcherson ("The Kids Are All Right") in director Joseph Khan's "Detention." Described as a horror comedy with a little bit of time travel and John Hughes films mixed in, "Detention" focuses on a group of high school seniors who are stuck in detention on prom night. And as luck would have it, a serial killer from a slasher movie has come to life to terrorize the teens. "Detention" is scheduled for release on July 21, 2011 by Universal Pictures in (surprise, surprise!) 3D.

Retro Trailer: "Are You Scared?"

I tend to pride myself on the crazy amounts of crappy horror movies that I can tolerate and most of the time, enjoy. So when I was home sick from work this week, Netflix Instant Watch became my best friend.

Retro Trailer: "Far From Home" (1989)

Drew Barrymore stars in this low budget thriller as 14 year old Joleen Cox, an angsty teen who is finishing a cross country trip with her dad when they run out of gas in a small desert town in Nevada. They wind up stuck in an old trailer park full of every stereotypical trashy character you can think of. While Joleen's father is searching for gas and chatting up fellow stranded drivers, Joleen catches the eye of two of the local boys. Admist all this, there's a killer on the loose, who seems to be targeting Joleen.

Retro Clip: "Ghosthouse" (1988)

Fun Fact: In Italy, the translated titles for "The Evil Dead" and "Evil Dead 2" became "La Casa" and "La Casa 2." The titles, translating to "The House" in English, do not have much to do with the Raimi films other than the simple fact that all the films take place in some sort of cabin or house. Director Umberto Lenzi then went on to make 3 unrelated "sequels" to the "La Casa" films, which were titled "La Casa 3, 4 and 5".

Snapshot: New "Scream 4" photos released!

In 1996 Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson brought us "Scream," a smart and satirical slasher flick that hailed positive reviews from critics and horror fans alike. Fifteen years later, they are attempting to do another round, in the fourth installment of the "Scream" series, "Scream 4," or "Scre4m" if you will. Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox-Arquette and David Arquette reprise their original roles as they become integrated with a whole new cast of young actors, such as Emma Roberts, as seen in the above all new snapshot from the film.

Snapshot: "The Apparition" (2011)

Written and directed by Todd Lincoln, "The Apparition" stars Ashley Greene and Sebastian Stan as a young couple who discover they are being haunted by evil spirits, that were accidentally unleashed during a college psychology experiment. The film also stars Tom Felton of Harry Potter fame. A September 9, 2011 release date is scheduled.

Lon Chaney Jr: Fun Times on Live TV

Lon Chaney Jr is without a doubt, one of the most iconic actors in horror history. Apparently he also had a raging alcohol problem as well. "Tales of Tomorrow" was an anthology science fiction series that was performed and broadcasted live on television from 1951 to 1953. The series covered such famous stories as 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Black Planet, The Last Man on Earth, and Frankenstein, which starred none other than Mr. Chaney Jr. himself.

Retro Clip: "Clownhouse" (1989)

The VHS cover alone was enough to give me nightmares, but the movie was pretty darn creepy too. Casey (Nathan Forrest Winters), one of three brothers, has an intense fear of clowns. His older brother Geoffrey (Brian McHugh) mostly sympathizes with Casey's fears, even though he doesn't understand them. Oldest brother Randy (Sam Rockwell) however, constantly makes fun of Casey. After a night at the circus, where Casey runs away from three clowns that approach him, the boys return home to their empty house.
