Can we please talk about Bitch Slap?
Submitted by Christine on Wed, 09/03/2008 - 17:54.
I'm beyond intrigued. I have now become feverish. I have to see this film.
Recently I have found myself diving head first into the glorious land of exploitation cinema. Nuns and girls with chains; I now wonder how I made it to this ripe old age without such things. This movie has to be good... or bad, depending on how you look at it. Either way I must see it.

Yes we can
I was actually talking with some friends about this film on another forum. The agreed upon opinion seems to be that it looks far better than "Hell Ride" but is still a blatant cashin for the exploitation craze started by "Grindhouse."
On first seeing the trailer I thought it was actually satire but since the jokes got old over the course of just the trailer I don't think the filmmakers were actually trying to be funny.
If you want to get into exploitation dvdholocaust.com is a great site.
"I like it when they lie still like that."
Not to be confused with...
...Donkey punch.
Donkey punch
What was the final word on that? I remember seeing the trailer and hearing that it played at a festival but then it seemed to just disappear.
"I like it when they lie still like that."
don't get me wrong
I have many reservations about this. I am just trying to stay optimistic. Do I think it is going to miss the mark? Mos def. Do I think it's going to be a repetitive, one trick pony? With out a doubt. I just can't wait to see it. Even if it is totally off base and doesn't even begin to capture what exploitation is and can be, I'm sure it'll be entertaining.
I'm interested to finally
I'm interested to finally get to talking about the commercial success (or failure) of Death Race and whether or not this "grindhouse phase" is actually producing to any results. I agree that there has been a slew of grind-y things lately, from movies to even video games.
That being said, I'm a huge proponent for gratuitous boob tracking shots and gunfights so you know, I'm going to have to give this my temporary conditional thumbs up.
I'd talk about that
Personally, my impression is that the grindhouse "craze" is mostly within the industry itself. Both "Grindhouse" and "Hellride" did terribly.
"I like it when they lie still like that."
Exactly
It's funny to think that so many people are riding the Grindhouse "wave" when the film was considered a huge failure.
It does look like a fun
It does look like a fun movie, but then I was looking forward to "Hell Ride". Being a HUGE lover of motorcycles I though this can't miss-!! The reviews where awefull and it was only show in two theaters with-in 50 miles from my house and was raining on the night that I could get my boys all together to do a group ride to the theater. So we passed. I'll wait for the DVD, which may come out REAL soon with how well it did at the Box Office.
This Grindhouse "wave" does seem to be the new thing to latch on to.
Aim for the head-!!
