A few days ago, an apparently "stolen, incomplete, and early version" of the upcoming mutant epic "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" found itself circulating throughout the torrent world. Shockingly, Fox is a bit poo-pooed over the whole thing, and is prepared to unsheathe their legal swords and start swashbuckling with the pirates of the Internet.
Apparently, this thing is SO BAD that Fox is not only sicking the MIAA on this, they're also channeling the investigative powers of the FBI. I could head off an entirely different rant about mega budget movies and the regulating bodies of the Motion Picture industry but that can be saved for another day. Really, I just want to say that I nearly spit my coffee out when I read the phrase "incalculable damage," because it goes way beyond hyperbole. In the worst case scenario, you might lose a couple thousand or maybe hundred thousand dollars, but in the grand scheme of things, your average action movie film goer doesn't have his/her pulse on the film leak world. Besides, once Time Warner caps everyone's bandwidth, even those who care won't bother downloading movies period, and Fox execs can go back to sipping martinis and high-fiving instead of shaking their fists (and taxpayer legal dollars) at people that care enough about their properties to want to take an advanced peek.

FBI Pursuing Wolverine Leak
Fox sux
Submitted by Eric on Fri, 04/03/2009 - 17:06.Fox is literally the worst movie studio in the universe.
I smell something else afoot here. Buzz from the Wolvie trailer was so bad, I think they know they've got a bomb on their hands and are trying to find a scapegoat. This may sound wacky, but I woudln't be shocked if they leaked it themselves to stir up all this bullshit. Considering the fact that Fox releases nothing but bombs, it wouldn't take much for them to realize what was going to happen with this film.
Bomb
Submitted by Prisoner Abel on Fri, 04/03/2009 - 17:11.NO matter how bad you thought Wolverine was going to be it was never going to bomb. Look at the 3rd Xmen movie. It looked terrible, was not particularly good and yet did gangbusters in its opening weekend. That's why FOX is so upset about this. As long as Wolverine did great its opening weekend, which it was guaranteed to do, they were going to make their money back and more. But there's still a month to go before it comes out. That's plenty of time for bad word of mouth to spread and kill that opening weekend take.
According to the people online who have seen it, the run time is about 18 minutes shorter than the official runtime so there's a pretty good amounting missing from the version online as well.

I Call Bullsh!t
Submitted by axlrotten on Fri, 04/03/2009 - 17:48.Yeah, I agree with Eric on this one. To me, this looks intentional and a desperate ploy for attention. "Any press is good press." They'll never admit it, however. So this is one for the conspiracy theorist, eh.
It will be interesting if this does indeed have any affect on the box.
FBI
Submitted by Prisoner Abel on Fri, 04/03/2009 - 18:16.Considering that the FBI is looking into how the movie got online I really doubt FOX is behind it. Right now its looking like one of the Australian Post-houses working on the films effects were responsible.

Fox, Meh
Submitted by axlrotten on Sat, 04/04/2009 - 02:33.Yeah. Most likely - but still ....hmmm.
In addition to this, Fox ALSO shipped a large number of their Slumdog Millionaire DVDs without the special features AND they may not support the 3D glasses (and their agreement) for the Ice Age 3-D.
Seriously, what's wrong w/ the goobers in charge @ Fox???
a few things
Submitted by loki315 on Fri, 04/03/2009 - 20:01.1. fuck time warner and thier new business model. its a horrible idea now with FiOS in upstate NY. all they are doing is pissing in the faces of their costumers.
2. i saw the leaked movie thanks to a friend. and i have to say, holy awful. and as one of my friends said "unfinished effects were the only redeeming factor about this, since it added to the unintentional comedy of this terrible, terrible movie"
3. i doubt that fox leaked it on purpose. maybe some at the studio who had access to it got paid a but load of money to pirate it.
Man, that's sad.
Submitted by Casey on Fri, 04/03/2009 - 22:12.How could the fuckup a Wolverine movie? It's Hugh Jackman running around beating the shit out of people! Hopefully they'll shake out the kinks before it hits theaters.
Not Bad
Submitted by peloquin on Sat, 04/04/2009 - 15:04.I didnt think it was terrible at all. It does what it's supposed to do, a big action film with loads of fight sequences and over the top set pieces.
The leaked copy makes the end od the film incredibly difficult to watch because of the missinf effects, and like has been mentioned an extra 15 or so minutes was shot later on to be added which hasnt made this cut (its mentioned that this was filmed in Canada so I'm guessing its from the earlier part of the film)
One thing though, Deadpool, they seriously fucked that character up.
