New Horsebites/Fright-Rags Joint!

Fright Rags and Horsebites have been friends of ours for some time, now, so I'm pleased to highlight their newest collaborative joint! This Killer Clowns From Outer Space shirt is awesome and I think it's definitely worth picking up. I'm hoping to get one of my own very soon!

Grizzly Park (REVIEW)

A group of stereotypical young people are in trouble with Johnny Law. Their punishment? They have to camp out in Grizzly Park for a weekend picking up trash with Ranger Bob. As they head out to the park the headlines report a story about a deranged lunatic who has escaped from the local prison and is at large. Now this gaggle of youth is setting off for the wilderness filled with wild animals and a psychopathic killer.

Ils (REVIEW)

"Ils" (aka “Them” for those you who struggled through French I) is a minimalist, almost archetypal slasher film. It would be hard to strip this film down any further and still have a feature-length narrative film. In its current bare-bones state the film clocks in at under 80 minutes, which is a godsend for long-film haters in these days when movies adaptations based on cartoons or amusement park rides routinely stretch out to over two hours.

Clearplay DVD

Times are tough for parents these days. Working 9 to 5, cooking meals, driving the kids to soccer practice... It's so much that the idea of parenting your kids yourself is just to much.

Fear not parents, because Clearplay is here to take those pesky parenting duties away for you!

Horror Headlines 5/28/08

Awesome news today, as all 100 Episodes of "The Real Ghostbusters" cartoon series will be released on DVD this fall in a massive 26 disc set. Now as soon as Nickelodeon releases "Count Duckula" my childhood nostalgia trip may finally be complete.

New picture from "Echo", the latest J-Horror remake coming down the pipeline. It does look pretty creepy, but mainly I just like to taunt the podcast crew with the movies I'm going to make them watch. So, haha!

Check these new pics from "Surrogate". The film's fascinating plot involves a future where people no longer interact with each other, instead using better looking robots that represent themselves. Bruce Willis plays a cop investigating a murder through his surrogate robot, who is forced to leave his house for the first time in years. Also, Ving Rhames stars as a cult leader trying to lead a revolution against the use of surrogates. Sounds like great scifi to me. The film is currently in production, so you'll have more as soon as we do.

Well, it's a slow news day today folks so go ahead and check out the featurette below, for the episode "Sacrifice" directed by Breck Eisner.

In Real People News:

Next time you try and cross the Canadian border with your ipod, you better be careful, as Canada is in the process of negotiating some of the strictest anti-piracy laws in the world. The bill is being considered a Christmas present to the recording companies, and will essentially turn borders guards into copyright police.

An Australian man who was hanged in 1922 for rape and murder has been posthumously pardoned. He obviously can't speak for himself, but if he could I have to believe it would be something along the lines of "thanks, dicks".

The only toilet on the International Space Station is broken, and there are no parts aboard to fix it. This whole incident raises the obvious (if not cliche) question... What happens in Space, stays in Space?

On this day in history:

1959: America launches a Jupiter rocket containing a rhesus monkey named Able and a squirrel monkey named Miss Baker. After experiencing nine minutes of microgravity, the capsule successfully returns to Earth with both monkeys intact. However, Able dies during surgery to remove his electrodes.
